IMPORTANT STATEMENT – DAMAGE TO OUR BUSINESSES IN BEVERLEY
We are deeply upset and concerned following a deliberate attack on our businesses in Beverley.
During the incident, windows at Chamas, Mirage and El Pollo were deliberately smashed and damaged. As you can see from the photographs, there are multiple separate points of damage across our premises.
This is not only damage to glass. These are local businesses where people work hard every day, where local people are employed, and where we have welcomed thousands of customers and families over the years.
We are particularly concerned that this incident may have been racially or hate motivated. We are not going to prejudge the police investigation, but given the circumstances, we believe this possibility needs to be taken seriously and properly investigated.
The incident has been/will be reported to the police, and we have CCTV, video footage and photographs that can assist with their enquiries.
Beverley has been our home and our community for many years. We are proud to run our businesses here, employ local people and welcome everyone through our doors regardless of their background.
Racism, hatred and intimidation have no place in Beverley or anywhere else.
We will not be intimidated, and we will continue to serve and support the community that has supported us for so many years.
If anyone witnessed anything, has CCTV or doorbell footage from the area, or has information that could help identify the person responsible, please contact the police rather than confronting anyone yourself.
Thank you to everyone who has already shown us kindness and support.
