Risby fishing ponds were built 17 years ago on the ancient site of Risby hall and gardens. The hall was burnt to the ground in 1784 but the Folly remains on the bank of the lake which adopts its name. Folly Lake Cafe sits on the banks of Folly lake at Risby Park Fisheries, located approximately 1 mile southwest of Beverley and 10 minutes drive from Hull. Taking the A164 from Beverley to Cottingham turn right for Walkington (look for the brown tourism Fish sign), it’s the first turning after the A1079 junction. From Humber Bridge, follow the signs for Beverley and take the left turn for Walkington after the Skidby/Cottingham roundabout. Follow the Walkington road for 100yds then take your 1st left for Little Weighton. Risby Park is on your right 1/2 mile down Dunflat Road. From Leeds/Sheffield and the M62, leave at junction signposted North Cave, head through the village taking signs for Beverley. At Walkington, the last village before Beverley, turn right at the traffic lights located at the end of the village. The first sign for Risby is at the next right turn.
