🎉 National Volunteers Week 🎉
Our volunteers are the backbone of the organisation - truly. Without our volunteers, we would have never had the people power to start, let alone be here 10 years later!
Firstly, our collections, this team collects heavy surplus food donations, sorts it, weighs it, and stores it. In fact, our pick-up team includes 2 of our longest standing volunteers who deserve a big mention - Jason & Caroline - you've been with us since the beginning! HUGE thanks and gratitude for such hard work and loyalty to the cause.
David who not only collects grub every single Wednesday but makes sure the returnable cardboard is sent back to Lidl and all crates are redistributed to the correct supermarkets - which is sometimes a really big job & a physically demanding one too! A big thanks also for Graham for joining the Wednesday crew 🙌
Newbies Phil, Madeleine & Claire, also for the pick ups, super grateful to you folks for getting stuck in and sticking with us during our transitional time in the new space. Plus, we cannot forget team Mum & Dad here, always ready to step in and collect when needed 💚
As for servers, coffee makers, and front of housers we have had so many, and we genuinely love you all! To all the amazing Duke of Edinburgh young'uns that have learned with us, grown in confidence and skills - it is amazing to see, and we are so grateful that you chose us for your DofE journey.
Big love to our Friday crew, Ann & Cathy, both long-standing volunteers who have consistently shown up for us for years & years each week providing us with reliability, laughs and support. Fridays would be boring with you pair!
Happy National Volunteers Week to all of our selfless, helpful, and incredible volunteers. It takes a special type of person to give up time and to get involved in something, especially during our move and upheaval. Thank you so much Soul Kitchen Crew - you are awesome.
