My son Ethan will love this! He already has his little bag of soil to take too so he can look at it under the microscope. See you there.

COME AND MEET THE MAYOR OF BATTLE 🌿🎉

We’re delighted to announce that Cllr Sue Burton, Mayor of Battle, will officially open Battle’s Big Green Day this Sunday.

Sue will be joining us in the Battle Memorial Hall foyer at 10:55am to say a few words before officially opening the event at 11am.

It’s a lovely chance to come along, meet Battle’s Mayor and help us kick off a day celebrating practical ideas, local action and the brilliant people working to make Battle a greener place to live.

And keep an eye on Sue’s outfit too… 👀
She may be wearing more than just her mayoral chain around her neck. Can you guess what the second one is made from, and why it fits perfectly with the spirit of Battle’s Big Green Day?

🌱 What could your child’s ONE change be?

We’re getting children involved in the at Battle’s Big Green Day - and we’d love them to come along and add their idea!

The challenge is really simple: think of one small thing they could do to help look after our planet or our local environment. 💚

It could be…

🚶 Walking or scooting somewhere instead of going in the car
🍂 Helping to start a compost bin
♻️ Getting really good at recycling
🌻 Planting something for bees and butterflies
💡 Remembering to switch lights off
🧸 Passing toys or clothes on when they've finished with them
🌳 Picking up litter on a walk
🌱 Or something completely different!

When you arrive at Battle’s Big Green Day, find the One Change Challenge tree in the foyer. Children can write their pledge on a leaf and add it to the tree. 🍃

And there’s an extra incentive… everyone who takes part can enter our prize draw, with prizes for children as well as adults! 🎁

Local schools are getting involved too, so some children may already have been thinking about their One Change in class.

💚 Ask your child: “If you could make ONE small change, what would you choose?”

Bring their answer along on the day and help us fill our tree with ideas!

There’ll be plenty more for families to discover at Battle’s Big Green Day too, including the children’s quiz and discovery trail, live apple pressing, looking at soil under a microscope and lots of interesting things to see and do around the event.

🔬🌱 What’s living in your soil?

Grab a little sample from your garden or compost heap and bring it along to Battle’s Big Green Day - because Soil Craft will have microscopes ready for you to take a closer look at the life in your own patch.

Julia and Sylvie from Soil Craft work locally in Burwash, transforming cooked food waste into bioalive compost and helping people understand the importance of healthy soil through community talks and educational workshops for adults and children.

At Battle's Big Green Day, they'll be inviting visitors of all ages to get hands-on, put their own soil or compost under the microscope and discover what's going on beneath our feet. 🔬

And if that leaves you wanting to know more, they'll also be giving a short talk during the day:

🍎 Fresh apple juice, anyone?

Would you like to see a live apple press in action?

From 11am-1pm at Battle's Big Green Day, Chris will be firing up the apple press and turning fresh apples into juice right in front of you.

The apples are provided, so all you need to do is come along and watch the pressing in action and, of course, have a taste!

🧃 We'll have cups available for anyone who'd like to sample the freshly pressed juice.

Want to take some home? Bring along a clean, empty bottle with a secure lid and you can take some away with you.

It's one of those brilliantly simple things that most of us don't get to see very often - and we think children might enjoy seeing how apple juice is made. 🍏

Need an idea for a halloween party that will remembered by everyone?

Check out these Halloween party options from The Adventure Club.

October is sure to book up fast so be sure to book in if you are interested.

🎃 Halloween parties with a difference...

This October, The Adventure Club is turning spooky! 👻🔎

I'm now taking bookings for bespoke Halloween adventures for children aged 7-12, with the story and level of spookiness tailored to your group.

🕵️ Kid-friendly Whodunnits: everyone becomes a character, questions the suspects and follows the clues to work out what really happened.

🔎 Spooky Detective Hunts: something strange has happened! The children work together, hunt for evidence, solve puzzles and crack the mystery.

🔐 Creepy Escape Rooms: codes, riddles, locked clues and challenges to solve before time runs out.

Nothing gruesome and no genuinely frightened children required!

😂 Adventures can be silly-spooky or properly mysterious depending on the age and personalities of the group.

Every Adventure Club party is story-led and designed to get every child involved, not just the loudest ones.

🎃 Halloween birthdays
👻 Half-term get-togethers
🦇 Halloween parties
🔎 Or simply an excuse to gather some friends and solve a mystery!

October bookings are now open. Message The Adventure Club to create your child's Halloween adventure.

🎃 **HALLOWEEN AT THE ADVENTURE CLUB** 🔎

Ever wished kids could have their own version of those brilliantly elaborate grown-up murder mystery parties?

Well… now they can. **Without the murder.** 😂

This Halloween, The Adventure Club is offering **Spooky Whodunnit Parties** for ages 7–12 see full details below. The Adventure Club

🎃 **HALLOWEEN AT THE ADVENTURE CLUB** 🔎

Ever wished kids could have their own version of those brilliantly elaborate grown-up murder mystery parties?

Well… now they can. **Without the murder.** 😂

This Halloween, The Adventure Club is offering **Spooky Whodunnit Parties** for ages 7–11, with two different ways to play:

🎭 **THE WHODUNNIT**
Perfect for older children who love performing, getting into character and being right in the middle of the story.

Each child gets their own character, secrets and information to uncover. They'll question each other, follow clues, examine the evidence and work out **whodunnit** before the case is closed.

🔎 **THE SPOOKY MYSTERY**
A gentler option for children who'd rather solve the mystery together than take on individual roles.

Perhaps a witch's spell book has disappeared… a potion has gone terribly wrong… or somebody needs to explain **WHY THE CAT IS BLUE?!** 🐈‍⬛💙

The team will hunt for clues, crack puzzles and work together to discover what really happened.

👻 Spooky, silly and mysterious - **not scary**.

And, as with every Adventure Club party, the story can be tailored around your child and the things they love.

🎃 **Halloween bookings now open.**

Message **The Adventure Club** to start planning your case.

Case closed! Dog Man is rescued!

The Adventure Club had its first mystery yesterday. A personalised party focused around the birthday girls favourite things. We had LEGO activities, map finding and memory games all resulting in a completed news paper report from the birthday who played the role of her favourite Dog Man character Sarah Hatoff.
It was so much fun to build and create and everyone had a great time, the kids were all engaged throughout and the parents got to chill and chat together knowing the children were safe and entertained.
If you would like to book your childs party get in touch via the The Adventure Club page or Kathryn Penton directly.
