This is a beautiful post all about Shakespeare. I definitely think Brendan should make his leff blond sorbe icecream he called shakesbeer🤣

SHAKESpeare in Banbury! 🥤🎭

Glance up to the first floor of number 46 Parsons Street and you’ll spot the bust of a certain Stratford-Upon-Avon gent, Mr William Shakespeare. (Photo top left)
Why is it there?
The building was once The Shakespeare Inn from 1871 run by landlord John Sole. Over the years it saw many landlords and ladies until it closed in 1901. A very small inn, as was most of that side of Parsons Street. (Yes we know what the original name was)

Since then, the original brick built arched windows and door as seen in the painting (bottom left) when it was a tobacconist have been modernised’ over the years.
In the last few decades it was Photofinish, Florabella Florists, and is now the home of Sheila’s Sweet and Sheila’s Shakes (right).
We love the fact that the shop name unknowingly gives a nod to its former beer based usage!
We wonder if Claire and Brendon will do a special Sheila’s Shakes-peare Shake on national Talk Like Shakespeare Day on 23 April?! 🤣
