Since 1993 Ballylagan Farm Shop has been selling home grown, seasonal, organic produce to customers from all over county Antrim, Belfast and indeed the whole of Northern Ireland. Locally grown organically produced meat and vegetables are available year round, as well as the most extensive range of organic groceries in the country. So whether you simply want to do a weekly shop for local produce and food you can trust, or enjoy a few days luxury break with some horse riding, Ballylagan farm is the place to visit.

Another one bites the dust. We are gradually losing the beech trees near the house due to old age and disease. This one died this year, so we thought we should get it taken down before the winter storms🌪️. Initially the tree surgeon thought he would have to climb the tree to remove the top section. When he arrived this morning he decided that it probably wouldn’t hit the house😳. Thankfully he was right.

Every year the Virginia Creeper on the front of Number 10 (one of our self catering units) heralds in the autumnal season 🍁. But only for a week or two. One good blow and it’s all gone😢.

This is our River Field, which was resown in August with a herbal lay. The ground was perfect for cultivation and sowing. No sooner was the seed in the ground than it began to rain. It’s not often in agriculture that the stars align so well.

Listeners of The Archers 📻 will know all about herbal lays. Our mix contains rye and Timothy grasses, red and white clovers, chicory and plantain.

Herbal Lays- food for livestock, food for the soil.

The piglets are one month old and just starting to try solid food. A watermelon is a bit of a challenge, but we figured it out eventually. 🍉🐷

We have a lot of yellow-rattle on the bank of the mill pond this year👏. By feeding off the nutrients on grass roots, it helps other wildflowers to establish. Great to see.

These have appeared in the last 24 hours. It’s a known puffball location, but this is exceptional. Will cut one or two now before the slugs find them.
