Quiz update…
Just before kick-off the sky decided to put on a brief solar eclipse, as if even the sun needed a quick time-out before facing another night of our questionable general knowledge. Once the light returned, so did the heat — another properly sweltering evening with the majority of the 152 players (27 teams) wisely camped out in the garden like sun-baked quiz refugees.
Huge thanks to Jess for stepping into the breach and keeping the questions flowing in Chrissy’s absence. A few brave new teams joined the fray, and we ended up with a proper dead heat for first place. Cue the dramatic count-back system (our version of a penalty shoot-out, only with fewer tears and more arguments about round 3).
And the results are in:
• 1st – “Tina’s Turnips” (£88)
• 2nd – “The Pheasant Pluckers” (£43)
• 3rd – “Chancers” (£21)
• 4th – “Tin Tin’s Haircut” (scratch card)
Highest-scoring new team (and therefore chocolate winners) were “We thought this was Bingo” — an understandable mix-up, given the amount of shouting. Meanwhile, proudly bringing up the rear and also claiming chocolate were “Jaspers”. Respect.
Chase the Joker remains gloriously intact at £500 with 37 cards still lurking.
Thanks everyone for another brilliant (and slightly roasted) night. See you all next week when normal service — and hopefully a slightly cooler breeze — will be resumed 😉

Quiz Update – The Hilarious Edition
We had an amazing 178 players this week, somehow organised into 36 teams. That’s not a quiz night – that’s a small invasion. Another warm evening saw several teams claiming the garden like it was the last free real estate on Earth.
Birthday shout-outs go out to Chris from “Tin Tin’s” and Kim from “Fact Hunters” – many happy returns! May your next year contain fewer wrong answers and more free pints.
A few brave new teams rocked up, all fighting for the prestigious “Highest Scoring New Team” prize (and the eternal glory that comes with it).
There was a three-way tie for fourth place, but thanks to our highly scientific and completely unbiased count-back system, the scratch card went to “Tin Tin’s Haircut”.
• 3rd place and £25 richer: “The Sopranos” (no horses were harmed in the making of this result)
• 2nd place and £51 richer: “Tina’s Turnips” (root vegetables for the win)
• 1st place and a frankly ridiculous £102: “Candy Crush” – crushing it both on the phone and at the quiz table
Highest-scoring new team (and winners of chocolate): “Where’s Charlie?”�Bottom place (also winners of chocolate, because we’re nice like that): “Sinking Ship” – at least the chocolate won’t float away.
Chase the Joker is still intact and will be a tasty £500 next week, with 39 cards left. The tension is real.

Quiz update… another scorcher!
Yet another night so hot the garden was basically a human BBQ, with 29 teams (141 of you absolute legends) sweating it out under the stars. We served up some properly dodgy questions about Hits and Hunts… the kind that make you wonder if the quizmaster has been on the sauce. You had to be there. (And if you were, sorry.)
There was a dramatic tie for fourth, so we dusted off our legendary count-back system (basically the quiz equivalent of “I saw it first”) and here’s how the money landed:
🥇 Candy Crush – £81 and the sweet taste of victory
🥈 Tin Tin’s Haircut – £40 (still looking sharp)
🥉 Chancers – £20 (living up to the name)
4️⃣ Charles Chickens – the prestigious scratch card (poultry in motion)
Highest-scoring new team (and chocolate winners): The Mean Machine – debuting like absolute units.
Bottom of the pile (also chocolate winners, because we’re nice like that): Simple Minds – don’t change a thing.
Chase the Joker remains gloriously intact and is now a juicy £500 next week, with 41 cards still up for grabs. Don’t say we don’t spoil you.
