One of the great things about being a member of Kent Gliding Club is the opportunity to enjoy flying at different sites with fellow club members. Our annual expedition to Edgehill Gliding Centre is always a highlight of the year — and this year was no exception.
We had a fantastic few days of flying, plenty of fun and, perhaps most importantly, lots of time to enjoy each other’s company. We were also given a very warm welcome by our hosts at Edge Hill, who once again made us feel very much at home and provided excellent briefings and support.
There were some fantastic achievements along the way too:
🏆 Matt Waters – Diamond Distance (500 km)
🏆 Martin Hardy – Diamond Distance (500 km)
🏆 Andy Moore – Gold Distance & Diamond Goal (300 km triangle)
🏆 Andy Pickrell – Silver Duration (5 hours), Silver Height (1,000 m height gain) & Silver Distance (50 km)
🏆 David Ringleman – Silver Height (1,000 m height gain)
🏆 Phil McCarthy – Silver Height (1,000 m height gain)
A brilliant set of achievements, particularly with several members completing parts of their FAI Silver and Diamond badges.
But expeditions aren't just about the flying and the badges. They're about sharing the experience, learning from each other, enjoying some great flying and having a lot of fun along the way.
A huge thank you to everyone at Edgehill Gliding Centre for making us so welcome once again.
Great flying, great company and a great club expedition. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🛩️
