Pretty in purple on the outside, chocolate on the inside.

This little gift cake was ordered as a birthday surprise for a very special mum. Finished with soft lilac buttercream, vintage-style piping, and a simple handwritten message, it's proof that sometimes the most thoughtful gifts are the sweetest ones.

A simple chocolate cake for my chocolate-loving husband this Father’s Day.

Not every cake I make is for a customer. Sometimes it's for the people who mean the most.

Thank you for everything you do for our family and for being such an amazing dad to our two boys. We are incredibly lucky to have you.

Sometimes it's the little details that bring a cake to life.

For this 18th birthday cake, the brief was wonderfully simple – a skink lizard on the moon. As lizards do, of course.

The close-up photos really show the finer details that can easily be missed at first glance: the hand-modelled skink wrapped around the crescent moon, the subtle shading and texture on its body, and the galaxy-inspired backdrop created with layers of airbrushed blues, purples and black. The stenciled stars complete the night sky effect.

I always enjoy adding these finishing touches, as they're often what transform a cake from a design into a centrepiece.

I do enjoy a unique cake brief.

For this 18th birthday cake, the request was for a skink lizard sitting on the moon. Not just anywhere on the moon, though—the skink had to be on the bright side because, as any reptile enthusiast knows, it would be far too cold on the dark side for proper thermoregulation.

The cake was finished with a galaxy-inspired design, hand-modelled skink, good moon and plenty of stars to complete the scene.

Definitely one of the more unusual requests I've received, and one I thoroughly enjoyed creating.

This buttercream cake was created to celebrate a 40th birthday, featuring delicate shades of ivory and blush pink, finished with a beautiful arrangement of roses and rose gold lettering.

This 4" gift cake was finished with smooth white buttercream, lilac vintage-style piping and gold lettering. Perfect for marking a special occasion when a full-sized celebration cake isn't needed.

This soft blue elephant birthday cake was finished with delicate fondant bunting, each flag with a different pattern to add texture and interest. The fondant bows and draped bunting create a gentle, celebratory feel, while the sweet elephant topper proudly holds a flag marking the special occasion.

Close-up details like these take time and care, helping to bring the whole cake together for a special celebration.

Dinosaur Cake

ROAR! This dinosaur-themed birthday cake was made for a very special celebration. Finished with a smooth white buttercream coating, the design features green foliage details, edible leaves, dinosaur eggs, and a fierce T-Rex standing proudly on top. Finished with a realistic toy T-Rex topper that doubles as a keepsake long after the cake has been enjoyed. A fun and modern design for any little dinosaur enthusiast.
