The temperature has dropped, and with the clocks going back at the end of the month, we’re taking that as our cue to run a bath, light the candles and settle in to a cosy countryside escape 🔥🌿🍷

The Nook - open for guests to enjoy most days, or available to make entirely yours for a Christmas party, corporate dinner, or whatever you fancy celebrating 🎉

Dinner beside the fire in our Dining Room, with a seasonal menu shaped by what’s growing and being produced around us in Sussex 🌿

Then upstairs to one of our 12 cosy bedrooms, ready for a very comfortable night in the South Downs 🛌

And of course, a cosy countryside drink by the fire after a nice walk in the South Downs 🏞️

September’s W**e Supper Club is next Monday 🍷

Here’s what’s on the menu:

- Nutbourne tomato and stracciatella bruschetta

- Dorset crab with pearl barley rice, courgettes and aioli

- Elderberry and dark chocolate mousse with toasted buckwheat

Three seasonal courses, thoughtfully paired w**es and a seat at our shared table. Come with friends or arrive on your own - either way, it’s an easy way to begin the month in good company.

The first Monday of every month
7pm - 9pm
£38 per person, plus service charge

Make The Black Horse your base for the shooting season 🌿

Set at the foot of the South Downs in Amberley, our family-run, dog-friendly pub with rooms is within easy reach of some of the finest shoot country in West Sussex.

Run by Richard and Oliver Gladwin, who grew up in the village, The Black Horse is rooted in the surrounding countryside: good food grown, reared and shot close by, wild game on the menu and w**es from the family’s own Nutbourne Vineyards.

After a day in the field, come back to good food, a lit fire, a glass in hand and your dog at your feet 🔥🍷

Bookings for eight or more guests receive 10% off our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package.

Free parking is available at the Village Car Park on School Road, kindly provided by the Amberley community and just a three-minute walk from the pub.

Our August w**e special was discovered at a wedding in Dorset, where all 120 guests abandoned the usual summer whites and spent the evening drinking this big, juicy red 🍷

A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, it’s full of black cherry, red cherry and cassis, with notes of chocolate, liquorice and to***co.

Bold but beautifully easy-drinking - and proof that red w**e still has a place at the table in August ☀️

Available by the glass at all our restaurants throughout the month.
