We often get asked how people can help support independent spots like ours — and the wider Andover high street — without it always having to mean spending money.

The truth is, the smallest actions make the biggest waves. Statistically, nearly 70% of every pound spent locally stays right here in our community. But even when you aren’t walking through the door, things like leaving a quick review, sharing a post, or telling a neighbour about your favourite local spot does more for a small business than any paid advert ever could.

We’ve been proud to feed Andover since 1993, and we only get to keep doing what we love because of this community.

Everyone loves a Friday fact — here’s one for you (an old one, we know 😄)

Chicken Tikka Masala — Britain’s most beloved curry — wasn’t invented in India *shock horror*🫣

It was invented in Glasgow. In 1971. By a chef who threw in some yoghurt, cream and spices to keep a fussy customer happy.

The entire nation fell in love with a happy accident.

22 years later — by absolutely NO accident — our family opened Shahi Raj (formerly the Eastern Eye) right here in Andover. No shortcuts, no accidents, just the family in the kitchen making everything from scratch with love, the same way we always have. ❤️

33 years later, we’re still here. Still cooking. Still feeding Andover’s Friday nights.
