Sorry to inform everyone, but we're closing The Old Packet House.

Hospitality has been brutal for everyone these last few years, and if we're honest, this building has needed serious investment for a long time. We've reached the point where patching things up isn't enough anymore.
..

So we're doing something about it.

From Monday 17th August, we're closing for a full refurbishment, giving this place the new lease of life it deserves while holding onto the tradition and character that makes it what it is.

Expect new tables and chairs with proper padded seating, fresh flooring throughout, state of the art kitchen equipment, new draught and ale offerings, a new menus, new fire guards (so finally, no more smoke drifting through the bar), accommodation, a revitalised beer garden and outdoor space.

We're reopening the week commencing 21st September, with our opening party weekend running from Friday 25th September.

This is a fresh start for a building and a business that's been part of Altrincham for a long time. Carl, Sharni and the team have worked hard over the last three years to bring this pub back to what it once was. Ask around and you'll still hear the stories, thirty, forty, even fifty years ago, of what a genuinely great pub this is. We've spent a lot of time understanding this building's past to help shape where it's going next. This refurbishment is about using everything we've learned to give you the pub you deserve.

Now for the fun part. Today, Thursday 13th, Guinness only £4. This weekend, Friday 14th through Sunday 16th August, we're running a Guinness and ale sale before we close. Madri £4.50 Heineken £4, Guinness £4, Coors £4, Landlord £3.50, Blonde £3. Once its gone, its gone.

This is your last chance to see the pub as it is now before the big reveal, so come and make the most of it with friends and family. See you this weekend.

Tough one to take, but the run England have had this World Cup is something to be proud of. Semi finalists, and one of the best atmospheres we've had in this pub in years.
Tactically it wasn't always easy to watch, and there'll be plenty of debate about the approach in the big games, but this squad still delivered a World Cup semi final. That's not nothing.
Third place play-off against France is up next, and it'll be the last competitive game before the Euros in two years. Every bit as much a reason to come down as any of the games before it.
A massive thank you to everyone who has been part of this tournament with us. The atmosphere in here has been incredible from the first game to the last, and that's down to you. We'll have the screens on and the doors open, come and see this England squad off in style.

Tonight's the night.

England take on Argentina at 8pm for a place in Sunday's final.

Before we get into it, a proper thank you to everyone who has come down and been part of this World Cup so far. The atmosphere over the last few weeks has been something else, and it's you lot that have made it that way. Whether you've been in every round or just popped down for the big ones, it's made all the difference.

Let's do it all again tonight. Come and be part of it, whatever happens.

Quarter final night is here. England face Norway, 10pm kick-off.
Indoor tables are fully booked, but there's plenty of standing room inside on the 65 inch screen. Just two tables left in the beer garden, also with a 65 inch screen, if you want to sit outside.
We're also postponing Motown night this month. Didn't want to overcrowd the pub during such a big match, so we're pushing it back to give it the night it deserves. Thanks for understanding, it'll be back soon.

The new menu has been out since 1st July and honestly, the reaction has been brilliant. Thank you to everyone who has already been in and tried it. 🙏

We wanted to do something a little different this time around. Lighter, fresher and a bit more adventurous. There are still all the classics you'd expect from us but we've added some dishes that we're genuinely excited about.

The Nasi Goreng has been flying out, chicken and prawns, sweet chilli, sesame seeds, fried rice and a fried egg on top. And the Dublin Spice Bag has had some brilliant feedback too. Crunchy chicken in numbing spices, onions, sweet peppers and fries in a curry sauce. It's a bit different and we love it.

And yes... we've already started work on the winter and Christmas menus. We're not stopping. 🎄

30 degrees in Altrincham today. Genuinely feels like Spain. 🌞
So it felt rude not to mention that tonight is Tapas Thursday. 5pm till 8pm in the beer garden, small plates, cold drinks and good company.
