While our Tea Room closed in December 2025 after 12years, we haven't stopped food altogether. Details on our website.

We still offer afternoon teas, fortnightly Friday lunches plus outside catering.

Its the last few days for any christmas cake orders to be sent in, we always make some spares for anyone who missed ordering. These will be advertised when ready.

Our Christmas Afternoon Teas are nearly fully booked; Saturday 5th December is FULLY booked and on Saturday 19th December there is only 1 x Two table left.

I've been making orders over the weekend, a couple of large chicken and ham pot pies along with a lemon cheesecake and pear, walnut and Stilton salad went out for a lunch party. Along with traybakes of salted caramel brownies and caramel shortbread.
Spending any free days making chocolate for our orders especially our Belgian Chocolate Rum truffles and chocolate covered cinder toffee.

Mum results were very reassuring from her heart echo and drs were pleased. Haematology were also pleased but just reminded her it will take awhile for all her clots to dissolve, up to a year.

Mum is doing well, getting better each day. She has been told it'll be 6 to 12 months before her clots fully dissolve due to the amount in her lungs. But she definitely has more energy.

Its been nearly 4 weeks since we last posted. Mum is doing well, still on strict rest and getting pretty bored! She was hospitalised with multiple pulmonary embolisms which also caused some strain to the right side of her heart.
But she is doing well and on the right track and we'll know more in October when she has a checkup. Thank you for all the well wishes and cards, it is really appreciated.

On a different note; I entered our rum Christmas cake into the Great Taste Awards and delighted to say we got a 1 star for it. I'll be starting to soak the fruit in the next couple weeks and will put more information on then.
Judges notes:
"This full bodied fruity looking cake has a rich and inviting appearance. The soaking of the vine fruits in rum has produced a moist, slightly boozy texture, but has not softened it too much as the cake cuts well into portions. It is very generous with the fruit, giving a balanced taste and not too sweet. The evenness of the fruit on cutting encourages the idea this is a very carefully-made product."

"This fruit-packed Christmas cake is lovely and tall and looks very attractive. The judges loved the incredibly moist texture of this cake, tand the fact that it is not too sweet despite all the dried fruit."

We will be postponing our Friday lunches for a undetermined amount of time due to mum being very unwell.
We'll update the website and social media pages when we have anything decided, so keep an eye!
We will still have afternoon teas in the near future as I can manage them on my own.

**** Friday Lunch has had to be cancelled due to illness ****

We're back after a week in the Lakes, in beautiful Hawkshead. We were very lucky with the weather and Ted loved swimming any chance he got.

Our next lunch date is Friday 10th July from 12pm.

We have another lunch this Friday 19th until a couple weeks break. Next Friday 26th, while we aren't open for lunches, we will be doing preorders of sweets treat and savoury bakes plus a hot roast sandwich to takeaway. We'll put a list up shortly for anyone wanting to order.

We have been making some traybakes for orders this week and selling off some extras bagged up.
There is our popular caramel shortbread and some triple chocolate brownies (gf) and salted caramel brownies (gf) - £5 each.

We'll be open tomorrow 12pm to 3pm for our set menu lunches if anyone wishes to buy some, just let us know if you would like any kept back.

Thank you to everyone who came for lunch last friday, we have another 2 or 3 Fridays before a little break and then we'll start again.

We are just doing lunches with a set 2 or 3 course menu on a Friday either weekly or fortnightly, please remember the tea room itself is officially closed so there isn't cakes etc.
