We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and experienced Barista / Front of House Team Member to join our team at Chalk Coffee Co.
This is a customer-facing role in a busy speciality coffee environment, working alongside a small and supportive team. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves great coffee, enjoys chatting with customers, and can hit the ground running.
You must have previous barista experience and be confident working independently during busy periods. A passion for quality and attention to detail is essential.
What you’ll be doing:
* Preparing and serving a range of hot and cold drinks to a consistently high standard, including:
* Espresso-based coffees
* Matcha drinks
* Iced coffees
* Teas and speciality beverages
* Demonstrating strong latte art skills.
* Providing warm, friendly and attentive customer service.
* Taking customer orders accurately and operating the till/POS system.
* Handling cash transactions and cashing up at the end of the day.
* Opening and closing the coffee shop.
* Completing daily start-up and end-of-day procedures.
* Receiving and putting away deliveries from suppliers.
* Keeping workstations clean, organised and well-stocked.
* Washing dishes and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shop, including end-of-day cleaning duties.
* Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining excellent quality and service standards.
What we’re looking for:
* Previous barista experience is essential.
* Confident producing consistent coffee under pressure.
* Good latte art skills (you may be asked to demonstrate these at interview).
* Experience using speciality coffee equipment is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Friendly, reliable and positive attitude.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Good basic numeracy skills for handling transactions.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
