HENO // TONIGHT

A powerful story teller, soulful singer and seasoned touring musician, Katie West takes her audience on a vivid journey through the American South and Midwest. Through her perfectly crafted lyrics, the listener experiences hurricanes in Louisiana, droughts on the prairie, and the restless life of a travelling performer.

Katie began her career in New Orleans, where she played wash tub bass and piano in the streets and clubs of the French Quarter. She performed with iconic figures of the Quarter, including Washboard Lissa and acclaimed songwriter, Grayson Capps. In 2003 she formed the popular Alt-Country duo, Truckstop Honeymoon, releasing ten albums and touring for twenty years across the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Andy Copeland is an Aberystwyth-based singer/songwriter guitarist/musician whose cool country/rock/indie song list will appeal to fans of Dire Straits, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Andy’s new venture the Andy Copeland Experience takes this quirky reflective back catalogue out on the road!

PETE THE TEMP and WORLDWIDE WELSHMAN will be hitting the stage for an evening of poetry, music, and perform lectures discu the ways of the world.

PETE THE TEMP is a poet, comic, and author, whose mission is to incite a spirit of carnival, wonderment, and riotous love. His live show combines poetry with human-beatbox, stand up poetry, and experimental sound poetry. Solo shows often incorporate loop machines and FX machinery, or come in the form of multimedia performance lectures.

Worldwide Welshman is Liam Rickard, a singer-songwriter, folk-musician, and multi-instrumentalist from North Wales. Entertaining audiences in cafés, clubs, pubs, boats, squats, living rooms, community gardens and festivals across the UK and abroad with his multi-lingual, tragi-comic mix of folk-pop ballads, party-bangers, spontaneous improvisations, folk songs from Wales and beyond, and dark comedy. His performances touch upon a diversity of themes including climate change, migration, mental health, cognitive dissonance, lockdown, and face-cream.

Irie’s Spoken Word Open Mic with guest poet Rishi Dastidar

🎤 Join Gareth James for Irie’s Spoken Word Open Mic with celebrated poet, Rishi Dastidar, for an evening dedicated to poetry and prose. Held on the first Monday of each month in the Bank Vault, Aberystwyth, this event is a fantastic opportunity for writers to share their work. Admission is free so bring along your crew.

London-based Rishi Dastidar’s poetry has been published by Financial Times, New Scientist, and the BBC, amongst many others. His third collection, Neptune’s Projects (Nine Arches Press), was longlisted for the Laurel Prize, and a poem from it was included in The Forward Book of Poetry 2024. His fourth collection of poetry, Cherry Blossom at Nightbreak (Nine Arches Press) was published in 2026. He reviews poetry for The Guardian, is a trustee of the Wordsworth Trust, and chairs Wasafiri, the leading magazine of international contemporary writing.
