Sinking into the work! 🛠️ We are hard at work renovating and improving The Half Moon Inn.
Here’s a quick job we completed recently: a fresh coat of paint to brighten up the ladies' toilets, swapping out the old blue sink and leaky taps for a second-hand unit salvaged from Llanfoist Reuse Shop, a new mixer tap, and a quick wrap on the worktop to bring some extra character to the room—all while saving water and boosting efficiency for the inn.
Total win—costing just £90 for materials after mixing the paint colour ourselves. This is just a quick refresh until a full layout update adding another stall in the future.

More DIY at The Half Moon Inn this evening! We’re refitting the loose upstairs sinks and securing them with new, solid backboards. Another Monday and more work done at The Half Moon Inn this evening! We’re replacing the old, broken door with a new second-hand one. We try to reuse materials whenever we can here—not only does it keep costs down, but every reclaimed piece also comes with its own unique story. This door was kindly donated by a friend in the valley, and it's ready to serve its time as the new front door of The Half Moon. Can't wait for you all to see it in person! What do you think?"

Chasing leaks—the relentless reality of the Half Moon Inn renovation. 🛠️ Today, we tackled a persistent leak that was running down the wall cavity and caused the internal plaster to pop.
We’ve stripped it back, replacing the old, brittle bitumen with new, breathable felt and added an eaves protector. The goal is to keep the building bone-dry for years to come, giving the wall the time it needs to dry out before we tackle the internal repairs.

Managed to get some help on the ladder today—seeing my dad up there in that shirt was definitely the highlight of the job! Swipe through to see the progression.

Not your typical Monday! We’ve been busy bringing the Half Moon back to life. Today was all about fixing a long-term problem: a concrete pad that was pushing moisture straight into our walls. By clearing it out and sorting the drainage, we're making sure the building stays sound for the next generation. It’s a fair bit of graft, but it's work we enjoy. It’s all part of our mission to restore the Half Moon to its former glory. Can't wait to show you how it looks once it's all finished. In the meantime here's a before and after.

Signs of change here at the Half Moon. We’ve stripped back the old signage and removed unused, weathered brackets to reveal the true lines of the building. It’s a blank slate now, and we’re ready for the improvements. We’re also in the process of revitalising the brand to match our vision for the inn—watch this space.
