ANNOUNCEMENT……Guess who’s back spinning again?!🧺
We’re thrilled to announce that Half Soaked Laundry is back in business!!🎉
Now, we all know the Half Soaked Laundry ladies are smoking HOT!!😂
But we’ve had a bit more "heat" than we bargained for recently! 🔥🔥🧑🚒👨🚒👩🚒
A fire at the laundry last Tuesday meant we had to temporarily close the business.
Until now!
We are still closed for walk-ins and we are not trading at all from our Commercial Street, building in Aberdare.
That will remain the position whilst we rebuild.
The fire was a huge shock, of course, and a substantial amount of smoke damage was caused.
However, our parents didn’t raise quitters!
We are a team of strong, resilient women who allow very little bring us down!
And there are so many positives:
1. Nobody was hurt. The fire burnt itself out and was contained within our building.
2. The team from Red Watch at Aberdare Fire Station and the Fire Investigator were just wonderful. We can’t say enough good things about them. Professional, knowledgeable compassionate and a real credit to the Service.
3. This was not an electrical fire. We have a brilliant landlord in Colin Davies (Davies Brothers) and our building was fully safe, with up to date electrics and all relevant safety certificates in place. The Fire Investigator has no concerns with the building whatsoever, nor with the machines we use which are modern and entirely safety compliant.The investigation has been closed with the conclusion a non-fault accident that was sheer bad luck.
4. We feel so loved! We want to say a MASSIVE thank you from all of us here for the overwhelming number of kind, supportive messages from our customers and from the wider community. Every message helped us immensely. Yeah, we had one or two cruel/ di****ad messages from idiots…..but who cares about those thickos? Not us!! Having said that, we have taken screenshots of the comments….👀
5. We also want to say a MASSIVE thank you to our amazing customers. You have, without exception, been completely understanding and kind towards the team. The general feeling from all of you is one of sadness for these hardworking ladies who have work tirelessly to build this small, independent business.
6. A special thank you to Chris who is a neighbour of Half Soaked. He was at the scene, he made us coffee, gave us a place to sit and gather our thoughts, did the initial boarding up of the property and even brought us breakfast when we returned the following morning to meet the Fire Investigator. A true neighbour and an asset to Aberdare.
So what’s next?👀
Well, our wonderful insurers will be in attendance this week. Of course, we have very comprehensive, specialist insurance in place and have done since we opened our doors on 21st July 2025.
Following that, we will then officially go into rebuild mode.
We’ll be working very hard to bring Half Soaked Laundry Services back even better than before.
And as soon as possible!
For now, whilst we aren’t operating from Commercial Street, we do have access to other awesome commercial grade machines at a second site.
We still have our amazing team of Helen, Rhian and Poppie, we still have the drive to succeed and serve our customers; and, of course, we still have Buzz the laundry bus!!
So, from tomorrow and until we bring you the new and improved Half Soaked laundry shop, we’ll be doing collection and delivery orders only.
We can collect from your home, place of work, hospital or wherever you are. We’ll also provide a drop off point for customers who may not want us to attend their location.
The service will be exactly the same as previously. With the same team taking care of your laundry needs.
That includes service washes, ironing and dry cleaning.
The girls will be contacting our customers over the next 24 hours to get you all booked in.
New customers, please just send us a message via Messenger, with brief details of what you need and where you need it collected from, and we will get straight back to you.
