Samedi 18 novembre : le grand jour est arrive. C´est la fin de mon voyage sur cette route australe après 3 semaines de pur plaisir dans le but de préparer mon corps et mon esprit à affronter Torres del Paines et ses changement climatiques.
Apres 15 min de bus, 3h de bateau et un contrôle d’immigration et de douane, j´entamais mon trek vers les 12h.
J’ai marché les premiers 17km (cote chillien) très facilement en un peu plus de 3h avant de passer du côté argentin ou il me restera 7km mais 7km infernaux car le trek de ce côté ci n’est pas le même. Il y a beaucoup de petite rivieres, un sentier plus restreint, de la boue, vous vous enfoncez avec le pied avec de votre sac sur le dos. D´ailleurs je glisserais dans une riviere et arriverais trempée (sac de couchage et hammac inclus) à l´immigration/douane argentine aux alentours de 19h30
Soit un total de 24 km sous la pluie, le vent et la neige en 7h30 de marche.
Fin de la première journée difficile, la fatigue me gagne et c´est sous la générosité des douaniers, que je passerais la nuit dans le refuge qui est jusqu’à fin novembre fermé au public.
Le lendemain, petit reveil ensoleillé sur la lac desierto à 6h pour un départ a 7h pour les derniers 17km afin d´atteindre l´autre côté de ce lac et donc la fin de ce trek.
La route s’est fait sans trop de mal sous le soleil avec une belle vue au loin sur le Fitz Riy (ce qui met tout de suite de bonne humeur).
J´arriverais aux alentours de 11h30 de l’autre côté et en profiterais pour faire le mini trek du glacier huemol (environ 2h aller/retour).
Suite à cela, c´est avec grand plaisir que je relève le pouce pour faire les 37km me menant à la ville de El chalten. Sans trop de difficultés j´arriverais à El chalten vers les 16h.
Apres avoir passé 3j a el chalten, c'est une longue matinée d´attente (soit 5h d`attente - pas facile de sortir de cette ville), c’est Carlos un bolivien de Cochabamba vivant au Chile depuis plusieurs année qui me prendra au stop puis Juan et enfin Louis.
J´irais par la suite à Torres del Paines ou j´improviserais un circuit car oui le problème c´est que tous les campings sont complets et que je nàvais pas reserve avant.
On parle bien de Torres del paine, l´un des trek les plus populaires d´Amérique du sud et le plus célèbre du Chilien mais aussi le plus cher.
Vous avez SIX options:
1) Un jour seul (depense : bus / entre du parc / nouriture)
2) Un jour avec un tour fullday (compter 35000 pesos (45€) la journee – non inclu l`entre du parc)
3) Faire le circuit W (duree de 3 a 5j)
4) Faire le circuit O (duree de 10 a 15 j) - (sachant qu´en ce moment le circuit O est ferme sauf si vous avez un guide avec vous)
5) Prendre un guide et faire le circuit de votre choix
6) Option debrouille
Je choisis donc l´option numero 6, l`option debrouille que j`appelerai circuit U ahah une belle invention de moi-meme. Laissez-moi vous expliquer en détails mon circuit U.
1er jour : Mirador Bases Las Torres
Je commençais ma rando à 10h et je mis 6h aller-retour pour faire ce trek soit 18km. Le trek n´est pas très difficle, un petit dénivelé vers la fin et quand il fait beau cela vaut vraiment le coup de« transpirer » pour la vue sur ces tours et son lagon.
2nd jour : Miradore Nordenskold / Mirador Cuernos / mirador Condor / Mirador guaderia grey
Je me levais à 4h30 du matin pour partir a 5h30 du matin avec Mauricio et son groupe. Nous arrivons à 7H à l´administration de la Laguna Amargua, ils ont tous l’équipement pour le vélo.
Je prend donc l´initiative de marcher et de faire auto stop pour voir les differents miradors de ma liste.
3eme jour : Mirador Grey
Levée aux aurores à 4h30, pas question de louper le premier catamarán à 9h, je marche mes 8km et arrive à la zone Pudeto (lieu du catamarán), prend la catamarán de 9h et arrive a 9h40 au debut du trek. Je laisse mon sac au refuge de Paine avant t’entamer mon trek.
Apres 3h de marche (11km), j´arrivais au mirador ou malheureusement le temps ne sera pas rendez-vous. Je passais la journée sous la pluie, des rafles de vent extraordinaires et une grisaille à glacer le sang (bienvenue en Patagonie ahah ).
La vue sur le glacier est couverte laissant apparaitre pour une ou deux minutes quelques fenêtres climatiques me laissant le temps de prendre une ou deux photos. Je resterais en haut environ une bonne heure et demi avant de redescendre (3h de marche – la descente fut plus dur et la fatigue intense).
Je louperais le catamaran et déciderais de marcher jusqu´à l´administration Sede situe au sud du parc soit 17 km en 4h.
Je ferais de l´auto stop à ce niveau-là et merci à ce petit couple Greg et Alexandra qui me déposeront à puerto natales. Nous arriverons vers 23h avant de rejoindre mon couchsurfer Otto ce même soir. Je resterais 2 jours de plus visiter sa ville, son musée et son front de mer en me reposant de ces treks qui ont rythmés mes jours ces deux derniers mois.
Ce long circuit fut éprouvant pour avoir marché quasi non-stop mais c’est le moyen le plus économique que j´ai trouvé pour voir en live le glacier grey et le mirador de las torres.
Suite a cette aventure unique, je me mettrais en route pour rejoindre la ville de punta arena, sans trop de difficulte Carlos et Harisson me prendrons en stop ainsi que deux autre voyageur Vera (pays-bas) et Dario (espagne). Nous seront donc trois auto stoppeur a nous rendre a punta arena ce jour la.
Une fois arrive en ville, Patricio (l`ami de Francesca rencontrer a Talca) viendra me chercher et m`hebergera pour 4 jours. J`y rencontrerai une jeune argentaine de 29 ans, Cinthia, qui vit aussi chez lui (merci couchsurfing).
Ni une, ni deux, je me mettrais a la recherche d`une embarcation direction ushuia/cap horn/puerto William bref un peu pour aller partout. J`y laisserai des CV, montrerai ma bonne motivation mais en vain. Malheureusement trouver un bateau s`annonce bien complique.
Cinthia me fera visiter la ville, nous iront, au marche, vendre son artisanat, je rencontrerai ses amis, nous cuisinerons ensemble (crepes, dolce de leche, gratin, …)
Et c`est apres toutes cette bonne energie que je quitterai une nouvelle fois le chile pour me rendre a ushuia le lundi 4 decembre 2017.
Et sa será donc la fin de mon periple au chile apres exactement un peu plus de 3 mois passer sur ces terres a decouvrir tout ces merveilles qui m`ont coupe le souffle, m`en ont fait voir de toutes les couleurs.

Saturday, November 18: the big day has arrived. It is the end of my trip on this southern route after 3 weeks of pure pleasure in order to prepare my body and my mind to face Torres del Paines and its climate change.
After 15 min of bus, 3h of boat and a control of immigration and customs, I began my trek towards the 12h.
I walked the first 17km (Chillian coast) very easily in a little over 3 hours before going on the Argentine side or I will have 7km but 7km infernal because the trek on this side is not the same. There are a lot of small rivers, a narrower path, mud, you sink with your foot with your bag on your back. Besides, I would slip into a river and get wet (sleeping bag and hammock included) to immigration / customs in Argentina around 19:30
A total of 24 km in the rain, wind and snow in 7:30 walk.
End of the first difficult day, tiredness wins me and it is under the generosity of the customs officers, that I would spend the night in the shelter which is until the end of November closed to the public.
The next day, a little sunny awakening on the lake desierto at 6am for a departure at 7am for the last 17km to reach the other side of this lake and therefore the end of this trek.
The road was done without much harm under the sun with a beautiful view in the distance on the Fitz Riy (which immediately puts in a good mood).
I would arrive around 11:30 am on the other side and take the opportunity to make the mini trek of the glacier huemol (about 2 hours return).
Following this, it is with great pleasure that I raise the thumb to do the 37km leading me to the city of El Chalten. Without too much difficulty I would arrive at El Chalten around 16h.
After spending 3 days in el chalten, it's a long morning waiting (5 hours wait - not easy to get out of this city), it's Carlos a Bolivian from Cochabamba living in Chile for several years who will take me to stop then Juan and finally Louis.
I would then go to Torres del Paines or I would improvise a circuit because yes the problem is that all the campsites are complete and I did not reserve before.
We speak well of Torres del Paine, one of the most popular trek of South America and the most famous of the Chilean but also the most expensive.
You have SIX options:
1) One day only (expenses: bus / park entrance / food)
2) One day with a Fullday tour (35000 pesos (45 €) a day - not including the park entrance)
3) Make the circuit W (duration of 3 to 5 days)
4) Make the circuit O (duration of 10 to 15 days) - (knowing that at this moment the circuit O is firm unless you have a guide with you)
5) Take a guide and do the circuit of your choice
6) Scramble option
So I choose the option number 6, the option of scrambling that I call circuit U ahah a beautiful invention of myself. Let me explain in detail my U circuit.
1st day: Mirador Bases Las Torres
I started my hike at 10am and I put 6h round trip to do this trek is 18km. The trek is not very difficult, a small drop towards the end and when it is nice it is really worth to "sweat" for the view of these towers and its lagoon.
2nd day: Miradore Nordenskold / Mirador Cuernos / Mirador Condor / Mirador Guaderia Gray
I got up at 4:30 in the morning to leave at 5:30 am with Mauricio and his group. We arrive at 7H at the administration of Laguna Amargua, they all have equipment for cycling.
So I take the initiative to walk and hitchhike to see the different miradors of my list.
3rd day: Mirador Gray
Lifted at dawn at 4:30, no question of missing the first catamaran at 9 am, I walk my 8km and arrives at the Pudeto area (catamaran place), catamaran takes 9am and arrives at 9:40 at the beginning of the trek. I leave my bag at the shelter of Paine before you begin my trek.
After 3 hours of walking (11km), I arrived at the watchtower or unfortunately the time will not be meeting. I spent the day in the rain, amazing wind stalks and a chilling greyness (welcome to Patagonia ahah).
The view of the glacier is covered, letting appear for a couple of minutes climatic windows leaving me time to take one or two photos. I would stay up about a good hour and a half before going back down (3 hours of walking - the descent was harder and the fatigue was intense).
I would miss the catamaran and decide to walk to the Sede administration located south of the park is 17 km in 4 hours.
I would stop at this level and thank you to this little couple Greg and Alexandra who will drop me at Puerto Natales. We will arrive at 23h before joining my couchsurfer Otto that same evening. I would stay 2 days more to visit its city, its museum and its waterfront resting of these treks which have punctuated my days the last two months.
This long circuit was difficult to have walked almost non-stop but it is the cheapest way that I found to see live the glacier gray and the mirador de las torres.
Following this unique adventure, I would set off to reach the city of punta arena, without much difficulty Carlos and Harisson will take me hitchhiking and two other travelers Vera (Netherlands) and Dario (Spain). So we will be three hitchhikers to go to punta arena this day.
Once in town, Patricio (Francesca's friend to meet in Talca) will pick me up and take me for 4 days. I will meet a 29-year-old Argentinean girl, Cinthia, who also lives at home (thank you couchsurfing).
Neither one nor two, I would go looking for a boat steering ushuia / cap horn / puerto William a little bit to go everywhere. I will leave CVs, show my good motivation but to no avail. Unfortunately finding a boat is very complicated.
Cinthia will make me visit the city, we will go to the market, sell his crafts, I will meet his friends, we will cook together (crepes, dolce de leche, gratin, ...)
And it is after all this good energy that I will leave the chile again to go to ushuia Monday, December 4, 2017.
And it will be the end of my visit to chile after exactly a little over 3 months spend on these lands to discover all these wonders that take my breath away, have made me see all the colors.
