There are people in the world, but where is humanity?
A child’s world is meant to be colorful, safe, and full of dreams. But when that world becomes marked by fear, abuse, and inhumanity, we are forced to ask ourselves: what kind of society are we truly building? The horrifying incidents of child sexual abuse that appear every day in newspapers and on social media are not just crimes — they are brutal attacks against humanity itself.
Children are the most vulnerable among us. They learn to trust, to love, and to believe in the goodness of people. Yet some human beings, disguised as monsters, take advantage of that trust and push innocent lives into darkness. When a child becomes a victim of abuse, it is not only the body that suffers — the mind, dreams, and future of that child are deeply wounded. In many cases, these scars remain for a lifetime.
What is even more terrifying is that the perpetrators are often familiar faces — relatives, neighbors, teachers, or close family acquaintances. As a result, even the home, which should be the safest place for a child, is no longer beyond question. These incidents are cruel evidence of how deeply moral values have declined in society.
Expressing outrage on social media alone is not enough. Families, society, and the state must work together to ensure the safety of children. Parents and guardians need to be more aware and vigilant. At the same time, swift justice and strict punishment for offenders must be ensured, because impunity only encourages more crimes. No society can call itself civilized if its children are not safe.
Today, it is time for us to question our own conscience — have we truly become human? The number of people in the world is increasing, but is humanity disappearing? To restore a safe childhood for every child, we must all stand for compassion, justice, and humanity. Because protecting every child’s smile should be the greatest commitment of a civilized society. পৃথিবীতে মানুষ আছে, কিন্তু মনুষ্যত্ব কোথায়?
একটি শিশুর পৃথিবী হওয়ার কথা ছিল রঙিন, নিরাপদ আর স্বপ্নময়। সেখানে যদি ভয়, নির্যাতন আর অমানবিকতার ছাপ পড়ে—তাহলে প্রশ্ন জাগে, আমরা আসলে কেমন সমাজ গড়ে তুলছি? প্রতিদিন খবরের পাতায় কিংবা সামাজিক মাধ্যমে শিশু ধর্ষণের যে নির্মম চিত্র উঠে আসে, তা শুধু একটি অপরাধ নয়; এটি মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে ভয়াবহ আঘাত।
শিশুরা সবচেয়ে অসহায়। তারা বিশ্বাস করতে শেখে, ভালোবাসতে শেখে। অথচ সেই বিশ্বাসের সুযোগ নিয়েই কিছু মানুষ নামের পশু তাদের জীবনকে অন্ধকার করে দেয়। একটি শিশু যখন নির্যাতনের শিকার হয়, তখন শুধু তার শরীর নয়—তার মন, স্বপ্ন, ভবিষ্যৎ সবকিছু ক্ষতবিক্ষত হয়ে যায়। এই ক্ষত অনেক সময় সারাজীবন বহন করতে হয়।
সবচেয়ে ভয়ঙ্কর বিষয় হলো, অনেক ক্ষেত্রে অপরাধীরা পরিচিত মানুষ—আত্মীয়, প্রতিবেশী, শিক্ষক কিংবা পরিবারের কাছের কেউ। ফলে শিশুর নিরাপত্তা আজ ঘরের ভেতরেও প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ। সমাজের নৈতিক অবক্ষয় কতটা গভীরে পৌঁছেছে, এসব ঘটনা তারই নির্মম প্রমাণ।
শুধু সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করলেই দায়িত্ব শেষ হয় না। প্রয়োজন পরিবার, সমাজ ও রাষ্ট্রের সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগ। শিশুদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে পরিবারকে আরও সচেতন হতে হবে। একই সঙ্গে অপরাধীদের দ্রুত বিচার ও কঠোর শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করা জরুরি। কারণ বিচারহীনতা অপরাধ বাড়িয়ে দেয়। একটি শিশু নিরাপদ না হলে কোনো সমাজই সভ্য হতে পারে না।
আজ সময় এসেছে নিজেদের বিবেককে প্রশ্ন করার—আমরা কি সত্যিই মানুষ হয়ে উঠতে পেরেছি? পৃথিবীতে মানুষের সংখ্যা বাড়ছে, কিন্তু মনুষ্যত্ব কি হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে? শিশুদের নিরাপদ শৈশব ফিরিয়ে দিতে হলে আমাদের সবাইকে মানবিকতার পাশে দাঁড়াতে হবে। কারণ প্রতিটি শিশুর হাসি নিরাপদ থাকুক—এটাই হওয়া উচিত সভ্য সমাজের সবচেয়ে বড় অঙ্গীকার।
