Some rain has made the garden slightly greener! Now is the time to plan your shrubs and perennials planting so they look good next year and the roots can become established before summer 2027.
One of the drought tolerant shrubs in the nursery garden is Elscholtzia stauntonii ( not to be confused with Eschscholzia which is totally different! ). A bit long and leggy this particular year, it is now flowering and the insect wildlife love the flowers. Sometimes called the mint bush it has scented leaves and has never been watered in my garden. Coming back every year, it is not very exciting until autumn when almost nothing else is in flower and it then comes into its own. Maybe a new small shrub for your garden?
Can you spot the bumblebee?
