WHAT A WEEKEND 🏆
Last Saturday we were at the first ever Roast Fest, a specialty coffee festival organized in by ! ☕️ We had our own booth, meaning we got the chance to share and sample our superb coffees and really meet some passionate coffee people face to face. But we also compete in a few competitions and walked away with more than we expected…
🥇MOCCAMASTER CHAMPIONSHIP
Bet you didn’t know you could compete with a Moccamaster? Well we did and we WON! Our owners Joonas M and Kimia signed up as a team, and after two rounds of knock out competition, they brewed a winning coffee and walked away with first place and gold Moccamasters!
🥇ROASTERS CHALLENGE
A simple competition designed to answer one question: who can roast coffee the best? We joined 11 other talented Finnish coffee roasteries, all roasting the same coffee, to see who could roast the most balanced, flavorful batch! During comp day the roasters become the judges, as we all sip and rank each others coffees blindly 👀Although we’ve compete in roasters challenge multiple times, this is our first ever time winning! 💪
🥉TOP 30 3RD PLACE
Every year Helsinki Coffee Week hosts a voting poll for coffee professionals to vote for their favorite cafes within Finland. This year after votes were calculated, our cafe .cafe.bakery came in 3rd place, just behind two Helsinki based cafes! 🫶
We are humbly thankful for all of this weekend’s victories! Thank you to the judges and the other participating roasteries! At Kahiwa we are really proud of what we do and how we honor a coffees origins through roasting and serve it in our cafe with care and a focus on the customers experience. It makes us even happier to see that this philosophy translates to our customers and fellow coffee professionals! Thank you everyone!
