Hi, I’m Asaf, one of the owners behind Ester’s Grocery.
Alongside running the grocery, I’ve spent decades producing events in our beloved Helsinki, bringing people together in clubs, concert halls, and in other various spaces around the city. What has always fascinated me most is the moment when people change gears from their daily life and experience something different.
Ester’s Grocery grew out of that same passion. Creating a place where those moments can happen in a simple, everyday way.
A perfect moment for me here is when a mix of people walk in, sit down close to each other, and slowly settle in. Someone meeting a friend, someone stopping by alone, someone discovering a new favorite sandwich. Conversations start, food and drinks arrive, and for a little while the pace of the day slows down.
Those moments are precious.
In any city, places like this matter. Places shaped by the people behind them, with character and intention. Spaces where you can sense that someone cares about how it feels to walk through the door. They add variety to the city and become part of the people who live there.
When we created the Grocery, the idea was clear. Make a place that we ourselves would be excited to walk into. A place where everyone is welcome, where the details matter, and where you might leave feeling just a little better than when you walked in.
And of course, don't forget our sandwiches.
We put a lot of care into each one. The warm fresh bread, the high quality ingredients, the balance, the small details. The kind you cannot find anywhere else, and the kind you keep thinking about later.
Our goal is simple. To make the best sandwiches in Helsinki.
