🇨🇴New coffee from Colombia: Los Chorros by Carmen Elisa Sanjuan

We just released our very special microlot (only 60kg) of a rareish Bourbon Aji variety grown in Finca Los Chorros, in Bruselas, Huila, Colombia. This is a farm we visited last november and had the pleasure of meeting Carmen and her husband Efren who own the farm. They were hospitable and friendly, took good care of us and showed us around the farm. More about the trip and farm later.

At the end of the trip we picked this coffee as the best on the cupping tables and reserved all. We are so happy it is now at the roastery and released so you can have a taste.

Farm: Los Chorros, 1764m
Variety: Bourbon Aji
Process: Washed
Taste profile: juicy and well structured with complex fruit and florals. Apricot, tangerine and hibiscus.

🇨🇴 New coffee from Colombia: Bellavista by Edilberto Coronado

Bellavista is grown by Edilberto Coronado in Santa María, Huila, at 1,850m. The name means "beautiful view" and (even though being the most generic coffee farm name 😅) it suits both the landscape and the coffee perfectly. The farm covers 3 hectares with around 13,000 coffee trees. Edilberto founded Bellavista 32 years ago, built his home there, and has made coffee the heart of everything since day one.

Farm: Bellavista
Variety: Java
Process: Washed
Taste profile: Bright and clean. Layered stone fruits, jasmin and black tea.

The Java variety is originally from Ethiopia, but during times it has found its way to Colombia where it shines beautifully. It carries that characteristic brightness and floral complexity you'd associate with Ethiopian coffees. These days it's particularly well established in Huila area, where the Bellavista is also coming from. It's not a common variety, which makes finding a great example of it genuinely exciting. If you haven’t tasted it yet, we highly recommend!

Process: Washed, double fermentation, dried on raised African beds for 22–25 days
Taste profile: well balanced and smooth everyday coffee with notes of apple pie, almond and brown sugar

Semilla believes coffee is more than a beverage. It’s a connection between people, communities and livelihoods across the globe. Rooting from Canada, they work directly with smallholder farmers in Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Rwanda and Uganda, committing to producers who lack access to specialty markets and paying the prices farmers actually ask for.

Their approach is simple but rare: buy solid coffees from real people, invest in the communities behind every cup, and let quality speak for itself.

We’re proud to source from a partner who thinks this way. 🤝

From our current line-up San Rafael, Los Magnificos and El Caliche is sourced through them.

Meet Don Vallejito by Ricardo Vargas

From the northern highlands of Pichincha, Ecuador, Ricardo Vargas have built something truly special with his wife Miriam Vallejo: a family farm grown from passion, dedication, and a deep respect for specialty coffee.

Ricardo's journey started as a food engineer, helping his father-in-law on his farm on weekends. Inspired by his belief that specialty coffee could create jobs and opportunity in the region, Ricardo founded his farm Don Vallejito in 2014, honoring his father-in-laws name.

Every detail matters at the farm: fermentation is tracked by temperature and Brix values, drying takes 3–4 weeks for flavours to fully develop, and the farm's infrastructure has been carefully built up over the years. The result? A coffee that's known for its quality and a better quality of life for his family. Ricardo doesn’t stop here, as he has plans to expand the farm, plant new varieties such as Bourbon Sidra, and keep pushing the quality forward for generations to come.

The work Ricardo and his wife has done is something we truly value at Good Life Coffee, and it is a honor to get to roast this beautiful coffee which delivers apricot, hibiscus & blood orange in the cup. It is fresh, floral, and beautifully balanced with a long, clean finish. The coffee is sourced through
