Coffee release for Sunday In Punavuori vol 2:

La Miel: Wush Wush - Dynamic Natural

The farm was founded in 2015 with the concept of a garden of exotic varieties. Among them are Geisha from Panama and Wush Wush from the Colombian farm El Zafiro. The farm’s attention to detail shows in the quality: their first Geisha harvest received a 93-point rating!

This lot we bought over the Gesha lot due to the unique and complex characteristics that really stands out. Comparing to the Gesha, the intensity of extremely pleasant taste flavors and sweetness was something very special!

Guji Megadu - Anaerobic Natural

Anaerobic processing is fermentation that occurs in a zero or low oxygen environment. This process encourages the production of lactic acids, which have a beneficial impact on the flavor of the coffee. This rare lot from Guiji, Ethipia shines in the cherry and complex tropical fruit driven taste profile and very high sweetness. The coffee is also super clean, without the unwanted funkiness of many experimental lots.

SUNDAY IN Punavuori II — The second edition of SUNDAY

Taking your time, taking unusual routes and reaching to our favorit shop Common, where its door is usually closed on Sundays.

This is an invitation to be flâneurs and be open so we can find joy in observing something unnoticed before in the city that we know too well. We, Common and Artisan Café & Roastery welcome you to enjoy a communally setting in Punavuori and to savour exceptional competition grade coffees prepared by master roaster and a three time national Brewers Cup (2018, 2019, 2020) champion Jani Mikkonen.

This will be Jani’s rare appearance after 9 months from the first SUNDAY IN in 2025. He will be serving filter coffees with his exquisitely roasted single-origin-coffees at Common’s retail spaces – including Ura.

With his artistic touch and some surprising elements, Shoji Kato will arrange the setting.

With the coffee of the highest quality, we take another voyages of flavours – our senses and imaginations could be further extended right from our common place in Helsinki.

This is the third collaboration of Mikkonen and Kato. The first one was Descending — an outdoor nodate-inspired coffee ceremony — presented at the 2020 edition of ANTI-Contemporary Art Festival in Kuopio. Common and Kato have previously collaborated and presented an exhibition of ceramic cups made by Matsui Katsuhiko (Fukui, Japan), at which opening, Tapani Huovinen of Maja Coffee Roastery served his hand drip coffee with Matsui cups in 2017. Common’s Ura is dedicated to display a surprising mixture of vintage Japanese related goods, carefully sourced and seasonally displayed by Kosuke Nakamura.

Natural Geisha from Peru, produced by one of the true pioneers of highest quality Peruvian coffees: Eli Espinoza.

Peru is no longer a range-bound origin but a confirmed producer of high-scoring naturals, in part thanks to the pioneering coffees of Eli Espinoza.

Eli is the owner of 4ha of coffee in the village of las Pirias in Chirinos. He processes all his coffee at his house, which sits at 1800masl and his farms are all between 1800 and 2000masl. He started out picking coffee in the village, and after a while was able to buy his own land and a house to work on producing his very own coffee. Eli's continuous pursuit in higher quality and investment to a solar dryer for being able to produce natural processed coffees has led to big success.

Naturals are riskier and require meticulous care from both the producer and the roaster, but can also hit higher cup scores through their greater depth of flavor and complexity. Eli entered CoE Peru with his Natural Geisha and won 8th place with a score of 88.73. This delicate coffee is extremely clean with long aftertaste, not to forget the interesting and complex taste profile!

Our very limited Cafe Y Procesos Natural Geisha lot was selected to Rare coffee subscription! Many thanks to super talented farmer Jorge Elias Rojas Vasquez for producing such a fantastic coffee and helping us to secure this lot! At the same notice we will be travelling until end of the next week and all the webshop orders and fresh roasts will be shipped on 28th/29th of March!
