Tartine´s closing generated a lot of discussion and some of the news published in the press are incomplete or a bit misleading, so let´s clarify!

We did not close because we were too popular, it´s a bit more complicated than that. We had to close because our premises and material were not adapted to producing big amounts of french pastries for which the demand suddenly exploded, while the rest of our activity (café and lunch) was heavily impacted by the Covid situation. We were unfortunately not able to find new premises on time to develop the baking activity and the situation was becoming unsustainable.

We do not know yet at all if/when and how we can return but our team will try their best after the sanitary situation becomes more stable.

We hope you will all understand the reasons behind our decision and we thank you, again, for your massive support!

Hi everyone,
With a heavy heart, we want to share the news that Tartine will be permanently closing the Vallila café on the 15th of August and Puhuri by Tartine in Lauttasaari on 28th of August. It was a very hard decision for us since this journey has been so special for our team.
It has been an honor to be given the opportunity to share our passion for french food and bring our contribution to the rise of quality vegan food in Helsinki!
The restrictions weighing on food businesses ever since we opened made our work extremely challenging. The restaurant industry as we know it was heavily impacted and the current situation announces another very difficult year for both food vendors and customers. This leaves us with no other choice than to take a few steps back while we figure out how to adapt to the new model of food distribution and consumption.
We wish to thank everyone who participated in this awesome adventure and supported us in making Tartine better day after day for the past year and half. We will see you soon!
