Temsalet has grown to become a place of organic learning where the women employed can develop their personal as well as career preferences. It also serves as a hub for different communities that host their events with us. But more than anything, it’s a comfortable corner to share some Authentic Ethiopian food. Temsalet practices a wholesome social enterprise model where the women employed are offe
red a comfortable setting for growth via training and mentorship. Experts come in to give the staff information on both soft skills and hard skills. Skills that they could use in the long run such as cooking, hospitality, business planning, communication, and leadership. The women are also fostered in sisterhood groups where they pass through stages of training in the restaurant. And our aim is to encourage indigenous ideas, conscious eating, and exemplary humans. Our restaurant setting located around Sar bet is inspired by ancient Ethiopian living. The tables and chairs were consciously crafted from a 130-year-old Pine tree. The interior color schemes, as well as the furniture, are highly influenced by what one might find in their old grandmother’s house. Large wooden boxes, carvings of ancient symbols on the chairs, sand-colored curtains that cover the windows, and a traditional coffee ceremony set up in the corner are all reminiscent of what old Ethiopian homes looked like. The main area can cater to small events and gatherings and is open to artists and creatives who may want to showcase their works.
