Santa Marta Management Mondays
After a week off, here we are. This week we welcomed back Pierre & Clara for their anniversary, one year on from our first private wedding since the inauguration of Santa Marta. June 2025.
So here is a tedious link from weddings to a management tip following on from our experience during our own wedding planning. Sadly this appears to be something missing from all levels of all industries, and is probably my biggest frustration in the world, other than a bad cup of tea.
7. Do what you say you are going to do!
I know me, and I know my weaknesses. Remembering things is very much one of those. So how do I make sure I do what I say I’m going to do, or remember to do what I’ve been asked to do. Simple. I have a system. All of my emails/messages remain unread until it’s they’ve actioned. And if something lands on my plate and I know I’m going to forget it. I’ll send myself an email.
I’m not perfect, but I think my ‘need to do/done’ rate is around 95%. I’ve worked with business, companies, colleagues, managers where this is more around 10%. How bloody frustrating!! How this impacted our wedding planning? Unanswered emails, lacking information, long delays to organise things and many things left until the last minute.
After our planning I made a promise. To be as helpful as possible to all and every enquiry we receive. Communicate quickly and friendly. To act out of a genuine wish to make things easy and not for financial gain.
For Pierre & Clara, as well as all the successful events we arranged before and after, they seem grateful for this.
So please, make it a priority. Simply action what you are supposed to action.
