My Dear Friends and Guests,
The last message I shared here was in April 2022, when I communicated the loss of my husband, Ivan. It has now been three years since he left this world—a sudden end to the journey we shared, pursuing the dreams we built together. He was my soulmate, my best friend, and my business partner in our restaurant, La Cicala, which we established when we moved to Gran Canaria in 2002. Endings and beginnings always come with pain, and these past three years have been a time of searching for how to continue the journey on my own. I’ve come to realize that to truly move forward, I must let go and not hold on to what once was.
Now, I must share news of another ending. After 22 wonderful years, I have made the difficult decision to let go of the restaurant and our team. The new owners will care for both the team and the restaurant with fresh energy and passion. I will share links to their new page soon. Until this page closes, I will continue posting memories from 22 years of Restaurant La Cicala by Ivan and Yineke.
