The First Weeks Decide the Whole Season

Before a vegetable crop ever reaches full growth, its fate is often decided at the seedling stage. A handful of stresses can quietly limit yield potential before the plant even leaves the tray:

• Damping-off diseases — Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium attack tender roots and stems in humid, poorly ventilated conditions.
• Water stress — both drought and waterlogging suffocate a root system that hasn't developed enough to cope with either extreme.
• Temperature swings — young plants can't buffer sudden heat or cold the way mature crops can.
• Nutrient deficiencies — a small root system means less capacity to take up calcium and key micronutrients, right when cell walls are forming.
• Salinity — high EC in the soil or irrigation water quickly overwhelms sensitive young roots.
• Transplant shock — moving from tray to field damages fine roots and stalls growth for days or weeks.
• Early pest pressure — thrips, aphids, whitefly and cutworms hit soft, undefended tissue hardest.

These striking images of a raspberry crop come to us from Sayula, Jalisco, Mexico. The image on the left shows the plantation, pruned to ground level, waiting to begin the growing cycle. In the image on the right, taken just 6 days later, the crop is already showing vigorous and healthy growth.

What happened? Two applications of FORCROP RADIX TIM, FOLCROP STIM, and BLOOM UP were applied, an ideal combination for the start of the growing cycle. RADIX TIM acts directly on the roots to promote plant establishment, BLOOM UP significantly improves shoot uniformity, and FOLCROP STIM activates the plant and plays a key synergistic role with the other products. The BLOOM-UP effect on table grape cultivation.

These spectacular images of table grape cultivation come to us from Hermosillo, in Sonora, Mexico. In the first photos, you can see the vineyard just beginning to bud. FORCROP BLOOM-UP was applied, and the result, as seen in the subsequent images, is SPECTACULAR. This farm literally experienced a “sprouting festival”! By applying this biostimulant, which contains plant-derived enzymatic amino acids combined with easily assimilated calcium, the growers were able to standardize the phenological development of vegetative and reproductive buds that had been delayed due to the plant’s nutritional status.

Calcium Deficiency? Dramatic Improvement 7 Days Later

At this yam plantation in Tonga, an island in Western Polynesia, a severe calcium deficiency was detected (as shown in the “before” images) due to cold weather and rain. The plants had stopped growing. Our technical team’s solution was to apply RADIX CAL 5 via drenching and FOLCROP TITAN along with FORCRAL COMBI as a foliar spray. And the result, JUST 7 DAYS LATER, is strikingly dramatic, as seen in the “after” video. RADIX CAL 5 provided the necessary calcium directly to the roots, along with other nutrients, improving and strengthening the root system while also enhancing soil structure. FORCRAL COMBI supplied seaweed extract, magnesium, boron, and molybdenum to stimulate plant growth. And with FOLCROP TITAN, amino acids (along with additional calcium and boron) were applied to activate the plant’s physiological functions and strengthen its resistance to stress.
