This cafe was dreamed up and made into a reality but professional cyclist Christian Meier and his wife, Amber Meier. Having lived in Girona for the past 8 years and noticing the potential for a specialty coffee shop they decided to break into the caffeine world, opening Girona's first third wave cafe. With a passion for cycling and all things high quality and hand made, the cafe features Rocket Espresso Machines (La Fabrica is the only distributor in Spain) all sorts of coffee making tools, black and white photos of Christians favourite cycling moments, as well as freshly roasted coffee beans, healthy ride food, homemade muesli and a great atmosphere.

Guess which one of these super athletes just tore a tendon in their leg? ☝️

Hint- it’s neither of the humans. Hahaha. Just our 12 year old weenier dog. Life always reminding us that it is fragile and fleeting. 🐕 but we are on the road to recovery and with Christians multitude of sports injuries in the past, there is nothing we can’t get through.

In the meantime we have been going little by little, September is almost done and the official last day of summer is behind us but we LOVE Autumn 🍂 and some wonderful local festivals are around the corner. We are already drinking hot chai lattes and looking forward to the next season🥂

We are a week into September and it has been a very hot and chaotic start.

Everyone is back to work but kids aren’t in school yet.

It’s 36 degrees Celsius and this feels like the summer that isn’t ending!

We are light on our feet and taking everything as it comes, enjoying the small moments and slowing down as much as possible.

Monday has always been my favourite day of the week, so much possibility for the next 6 days.

It’s September, ladies and gentlemen, are you ready for the shift?

Temperatures lower, nights get a little darker, routine starts to come back in full force.

We are so excited for September, ours second favourite month after June, and we are keeping our 08:00am opening time so you can take advantage of those last early morning rides while the weather is still begging for you to go out.

Holy Guacamole. Today is the hottest day of the year. 40 in Girona and we are in the aircon, hydrating and trying to figure out the closest, coldest water to get us to the end of the week.

The rain in Spain has started falling and it’s going to be a wet week over here.

Off-Season (noun)
/ˈɒfˌsiːzn/

“A time of year when a particular activity, typically a sport, is not engaged in”

When Christian was a cyclist, we always used to use the word Off Season. How much we would look forward to it, a break from the High Season. Less training on the bike, more eating and early nights to bed.

A time to reset and relax. To hibernate and find solitude in quiet.

January and February are the two slowest months of the year. Sometimes we think about closing but we always come back to the fact that even if just a handful of people come in for a coffee, we want to be here for you.

So we are playing tic-tac-toe, everyone is taking turns for vacations, some of us are finishing exams, learning a new language, and doing small home renovations. It’s amazing.

Mid January is treating us pretty good so far 🤩

Rides in the sun, all of our favourite coffee shops are open (Girona doesn’t really close for the off season) and the charm of this specially city keeps giving, year round.
