We recieved a nice blog from M. Elmekkawi The-Freediver about dving in the Red Sea.
This blog comes to you from Hurghada, which is a city in the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt. It is a main tourist centre located on the coast of the Red Sea, a seawater inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia.
Scuba diving in the Red Sea started in the 1950s when Greek and Italian workers began Spear Fishing while residing in Egypt. Explored by the Austrian zoologist Dr. Hans Hass, a well-known underwater movie maker, and the famous French diver Jacques Cousteau, the Red Sea has amazing coral reefs that are a magnet for thousands of species of marine life.
I am originally from Egypt, but I live in Larnaca on the beautiful Mediterranean Island of Cyprus. I run ‘The-Freediver Diving School’ there, where we teach people to Scuba Dive and Freedive, from absolute beginners to advanced. However, as the Red Sea is considered one of the best diving destinations in the world, we offer scheduled annual trips to Egypt to conduct different Scuba Diving and Freediving activities (Courses – Fun diving) from this amazing location. We also offer ‘liveaboard’ cruises where you can take part in diving, get to cruise around the Red Sea, eat and experience total relaxation.
Our last pre planned trip in 2014 was supposed to be from 1st of December till the end of the month but we had to extend it to 7th of Jan 2015 due to the impressively large amount of bookings from our lovely divers. Divers from several different countries joined us. We had awesome times with everybody and our ‘together time’ was a mixture of amazing diving – sightseeing – going out in the evening – and shopping with our customers – Hurghada is a beautiful city! We conducted different Scuba-Diving and Freediving programmes, and were very lucky to see interesting marine life every time we went diving. Some of these were beautiful fish such as: Porcupine Rays, Clown Fish, Masked Butterfly Fish, Bottlenose Dolphins, a beautiful Feather-Tail (Cowtail) Stingray, Devil Fish, a Green Turtle and Moray Eels.
Diving with us is a mixture of total relaxation and great fun. We give our best personal care and customer satisfaction is always our top priority. We can even arrange accommodation to make your experience even more enjoyable. We make sure everyone has a great time and that there is something for everyone to take part in, all this AND learning something different and exciting!
Hurghada is a fantastic holiday destination, not only because it is a beautiful city with lots of fun activities to try, but also because the weather conditions and clear calm waters make it one of the best places in the world for snorkelling. The seas are warm in December, around 25 degrees, and the normal temperature in the city hovers around 30 °C (86 °F) for most of the year. This makes it a great winter AND summer destination for tourists.
We love seeing people happy and enjoying their holidays, it hardly seems like work. A stress-free vacation can be the best medicine.
