A pre-owned Textile wall art crafted using traditional Kalaga techniques—heavy relief padded embroidery (stuffed with cotton or raw fibers for a 3D effect), silver-tone metallic/metallic-wrapped thread work, sequins, beads, and applied fabric overlays on black velvet backing.
A prominent prowling tiger surrounded by foliage, encased within a detailed multi-colored floral and vine outer border.
Framing: Custom mounted under glass in a gilded wooden frame. At 140 cm × 80 cm, this is an exceptionally large, statement-sized piece.
Late 20th Century (c. 1970s–1990s): While the Kalaga technique dates back to the 19th-century Konbaung Dynasty of Myanmar (Burma), large framed decorative wall hangings featuring animals (tigers, elephants, peacocks) with bright sequins and synthetic/metallic threads were heavily produced for the export and high-end decor market during the late 20th century.
Large format:140 cm height x 80 large cm size boosts appeal as a statement wall piece.
