NEW✨【Japanese Omikuji おみくじ】
What's the lucky "message" for you today?
Japanese modern Omikuji at Shinto shrines are paper slips telling how lucky or unlucky your future may be, usually with Waka 和歌, Japanese traditional poem. "Modern" here, as in after Meiji period (1868-1912)😄
You may have heard of fortune cookies of wisdom. They are said to have origins dating back to Japan’s Edo period (1603–1868).
Omikuji is believed to have started in the Heian period (794–1185). Originally, it was used for making important national decisions and fortune-telling/divine oracles, with its roots in a practice called "御籤引き" (Mikuji-biki) conducted at the imperial court. Later, it spread to the general public and became a way for people to seek guidance on their fortune and future.
Omikuji(御神籤) literally means "sacred lot"
At AI Japan Aalborg, you can experience Kanji Omikuji, a hybrid style with original oracle function with channelled messages, featuring Japanese symbolic characters called Kanji (in stead of traditional poem), and paper-slip-fortune-drawing-fun!
Did you already try this?
We have already heard some of our guests saying "this makes sense!" "this is spot on..." and "this is what I needed to hear" with surprising smiles🤭
You are welcome to try again, (there are 44 different messages) but preferably not on the same day. Sometimes it takes time for the message to make sense.
Use your slip as you wish: as an amulet, a protection, or a daily reminder. When it no longer serves you, you can discard it with a bit of salt and gratitude: )
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you at AI Japan Aalborg, as always!🇯🇵🇩🇰
P.S. When you go to actual shrines in Japan and try their Omikuji, remember the proper etiquette before and after drawing😉
