THE TEXTURE ROUND

The smash burger comes out swinging with those crispy, lacy edges. I’ll give it that.

But a real hamburger patty has something the smash burger gives up when you flatten it paper-thin:

A BITE.

That little crust on the outside…
The juicy center…
The texture of actual ground beef when you bite into it.

A burger shouldn’t disappear in two bites. 😂

I want to bite into a BURGER, not just crispy beef stuck between bread.

The Smash Burger enters this round swinging with that dark, crispy crust. There’s no denying it—it tastes good.

But the traditional Hamburger Patty brings something different to the fight: thick, tender, juicy beef flavor from the outside all the way through the center.

After more than 50 years in the restaurant business—and more burgers than I could ever count—I’ve learned something simple:

Crispy edges are good.

But juicy beef is better.

We placed both burgers in front of our taste-test judges. They took their bites, compared the two, and made their decision.
