Defining subcultures is difficult, especially when, like the English skinhead culture, they defy
definition and do not wish to be pigeonholed 👊 .

THIS IS SKINHEAD by Tom Wilkins Tom Wilkins | UK Photographer does not even attempt to do so, but instead leaves it to the
viewer of his fantastic photographs to form their own impression of the essence of skinhead culture.

His photos explore contemporary skinhead culture through identity, loyalty, brotherhood, music,
style 🥾 and belonging.

Shot across Wales and the wider UK 🇬🇧 , the project began with Wilkins approaching the culture as
an outsider. Over time it evolved into a collaborative portrait of the people and communities he met,
blending his documentary photography with contributed images, personal stories✍ , and memories from within the culture.

THIS IS SKINHEAD looks past familiar imagery and stereotypes to explore the friendships 🫶 ,
contradictions, histories, and sense of belonging that still exist within the culture today.

WANTED is the fantastic 🎉 debut photo book by the award-winning big-wave 🌊 surf photographer Romuald Pliquet.

It’s a striking portrait series celebrating the surfers of his home turf, the Crozon Peninsula 🇫🇷.

The title takes direct aim at an outdated stereotype that’s clung to surfing since the 1970s: the image of a countercultural crowd lounging aimlessly on the beach all day 🦥. This book sets the record straight. Today’s surfing community spans every social class and generation — doctors, artists, teachers, fishermen, students — all united by the same passion and a deep connection to the ocean 🦈. It’s become a real social hub, where differences melt away with the rhythm of the tides.

Yet beach access has increasingly been restricted 🚫 in recent years, often out of a lack of understanding about how diverse and locally rooted this community truly is.
