Mélanie Lefebvre — Jeux de mains jeux de vilains

Originally from Northern France, Mélanie Lefebvre works with oil painting on large formats. Based in Lyon, where she graduated from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts, she develops a practice centered on the body — with a particular focus on hands.

Her compositions are tightly framed, leaving space for what escapes the image: off-screen narratives, suspended gestures, and latent fiction.

Influenced both by surrealist imagery and the saturated palette of Technicolor cinema, her work begins with photography — each scene is first captured, then translated into paint.

A tension emerges between reality and staging, intimacy and distance. The hand becomes language.
