The Source Food Projects

From the founder of The California Breakfast Slam, The Source Food Projects is a food idea incubator and catering service which seeks to bring new food ideas and support local gastro businesses.

The Last Morning on Earth is the second endeavour, the next life of what was once The California Breakfast Slam, going back to its roots of weekend brunching.

Since 2010, The Slamlord and his merry and gay collection of weekend warriors brought to the masses an unabashed style of brunching, no matter what the venue. The California Breakfast Slam began with little fanfare but outlandish ideals of creating American style brunching for the immigrated masses yearning for something other than cold cuts and bread on a plate, a dark period for brunching in Berlin. The locals, German public at large also didn’t know what they had missed: something fried, greasy, crunchy, cheesy, salty and sweet, together on one plate, before noon on a Sunday. Blaring music and sweet talking attendants in tow, this brunch crew rocked the house every weekend for six years, the first half of which were as pop-ups in Wedding and Neukölln, and the second half as a full fledged party pad from 2014-2016. Garnering kudos in this period from the New York Times’ 36 Hours Berlin in September 2013, to mentions in German Vogue, Lonely Plant, Conde Nast Traveller, and an eventual Brunch of the Year in 2015 by the Tip Berlin Gastronomic Guide, it helped spawn a citywide infestation of me-too brunch spots, which local gastro businesses, realising the earning potential of Sunday operation, jumped all to eagerly in. The end of the Slamlord Cabslam run happened in 2017, when the business was handed off to the Weltrestaurant group, who have since discontinued running the Cabslam brand.

In January of 2019, The Last Morning on Earth kicked off its back-to-the-roots brunching, weekends, daytime. Menu items have some old faves but weekly changing dishes.

The Source Food Projects is the new mother company for LTMOE brunch projects and is doing catering for brunches, lunches, events in and around Berlin, California style flavours.
