The Smooth Life / Monday 17.Nov.25 (7:00pm)
A multi-awarded, non-traditional solo documentary puppet performance end with a culinary surprise at the
Created and performed by Husam Abed, this intimate work blends storytelling, object theater, and live cooking to recount his family’s displacement from the Baqa’a refugee camp in Jordan - the largest Palestinian camp through generations shaped by the 1948 Nakba and beyond.
Audience members sit around a table as stories unfold through soulful music, raw materials (tin cans, rice, wire, paper), projections, maps, and tactile memories. Abed speaks, whispers, sings, and dances—bringing us close to lives and histories that may feel distant, yet resonate deeply.
This is theater where art meets survival, memory meets flavor, and personal history becomes collective reflection.
