A restaurant aimed at offering quality Czech food needed a name that means something to the Czechs. The word ‘epopej’ means epic in Czech. We thought this word best represents the sensations we would like you to have while consuming our food. Just epic.
‘Slavic epic’- Slovanska Epopej is a collection of 20 large dimensional paintings by a famous Czech artist Alfons Mucha, who’s museum is next door to us. The paintings represent Czech history. Curiously, our artist Klara Tesarova, who illustrated our menu, was one of the chosen artists to recreate Mucha’s EPOPEJ for a unique art project aimed at exploring young artists’ views of Czech history. Have you ever reminisced about those lovely times when you sat in your family’s kitchen smelling homemade food and feeling relaxed? Epopey, a unique Czech gastro pub, was inspired by precisely these sensations. We offer meals based upon traditional Czech dishes, concentrating on the quality of our fresh ingredients. Our chefs appreciate the need for light and easily digestable meals and therefore we offer a changing array of daily specialties. These consist of fish, meat, pasta and salad dishes, which use seasonal ingredients. We buy all of our ingredients regularly and in small quantities to ensure their freshness. We hope that you will enjoy our traditional Czech cuisine with an international twist.
