unda. In the 17th century, the district served as Willemstad's free port. In 1635, Fort Amsterdam was built to protect Punda's harbor entrance, located on the eastern side of Sint Annabaai, where the famous 18th century colored warehouses on Handelskade now stand. Since 1997, a part of this district is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Site. Today, Punda offers a little bit of everything from shopping, to sightseeing and of course Restaurants.
