The Cook Islands government has announced that the borders with New Zealand will reopen on 13 January 2022.

In a statement, the Prime Minister Mark Brown said Cabinet had made the important decision to reopen the borders based on a range of high-level advice.

This included from the Government’s Border Easement Taskforce, comprising lead officials from key agencies, and from data modelling experts in New Zealand.

Prime Minister Brown said he was excited to be providing certainty and hope about the next step for the nation.

Cabinet’s decision means the current Travel Advisory is extended until 11.59pm on Wednesday 12 January 2022 (CKT).

The Cook Islands borders have been closed since 16 August this year when the first community case of the Delta variant of COVID-19 was reported in New Zealand.

Prime Minister Brown also announced there will be two managed return flights from New Zealand before Christmas.

✨So what can you do to avoid feeling this way once you hit the road entering the road that leads up to the waterfall and notice that its blocked up with barrels and signs?
✨Prepare yourself here's the low down on what to expect.
✨The road is being tolled!
$2 a walker
$2.50 a bike
$5 a car
Yes its not cheap!! it is what it is. So be prepared to pay.

✨What you should consider to avoid being disappointed.
Ask ahead if there's water falling.

If it hasn't rained in a while you will visit a dry waterfall.
If there's a good rain fall of days your arrive to a pretty cool fall.

The road is rough yes, and there are many pot holes going up. Its still in the process of getting done up.😬

Take mossy spray!!! You will get eaten alive without it and you wont last long up there without it.

Also the best way to end the cross island needle walk. Jumping into the fresh water fall and cleaning up cooling down.!

Aside from the politics of it if your prepared for it an informed about it before arriving your experience will be one a enjoyment.
