This Flag Day, we celebrate the timeless spirit and the deep roots we share with the Downtown Tampa community. Whether you're passing by for a photo or joining us inside for a cocktail, there’s no better place to soak in the heritage of our history rich city.

The Dan is more than just a modern speakeasy; it’s the direct successor to the hotel’s original Sapphire Lounge, which opened along with the building. During its peak in the 1940s, the lounge became the pulse of downtown Tampa.

During World War II, the Sapphire Lounge was the go-to spot for GIs stationed at nearby Drew Field (now Tampa International Airport). The room was famously packed with servicemen and local women dancing to live jazz.
