What is the antithesis of feeling blue?
It is, by definition, the effect .coffee has on us.

Portebleue is a micro-roastery from Montréal run by Tanner Gooding and Emrys Boschy. Transitioning from a career in civil engineering to the coffee world, Tanner started the roastery to celebrate the intersection of artisanal skill and technical rigor. Emrys joined the project after more than eight years in the Canadian coffee industry, working first as a barista and then as an espresso machine technician. The two friends are passionate about small-batch production, ensuring that every lot maintains optimal freshness (roasting to order) and a constant level of quality.
Portebleue strives to act as a bridge between Montreal coffee enthusiasts and global farming communities by creating roast profiles that highlight the unique richness of each specific origin. The roastery prioritizes transparency and traceability over mass-market volume and ensures that its coffees remain a true reflection of the diverse regions from which they are sourced. Tanner and Emrys source green coffee from importers who champion environmentally friendly practices and support the well-being of agricultural communities. This producer-centric approach allows the roastery to offer a transparent product that supports the long-term health of the global coffee ecosystem.
Portebleue started as a dream. Tanner and Emrys believed it was possible to love what you do, treat people with fairness and kindness, and make a stable living to support their families. For them, the goal of the small-batch roastery isn’t fast growth or notoriety – it’s about roasting excellent coffees that connect communities and make people excited to explore new flavours.
