🌺 There’s just something about a good old-fashioned community hall wedding.

💐 Last night we had the pleasure of catering a beautiful wedding at Cloverlawn Community Hall, and I have to give this little venue some love. The hall has recently been renovated and it is absolutely beautiful — white interior, gorgeous wood beams, bright, clean and such a lovely space.

🤍 And I have to say… for the price point, I would choose a beautiful community hall like this any day over some of the big, fancy and expensive wedding barns. They may not all offer the same size or amenities, but there is something wonderfully simple and practical about them — and, from a caterer’s perspective, they’re often MUCH easier to work in! 😉

💐The bride’s décor was stunning. Everything was white and cream — linens, beautiful chair covers, tiny white lights overhead — and then she simply let the flowers be the colour.

And there were flowers EVERYWHERE.

🌸 Our friend Shelley from walkalongfarm created the arrangements, with gorgeous pops of green, orange and yellow against all that white and cream. It was simple, colourful and honestly so beautiful.

🤍 This wedding was also extra special because, although I had never actually met the bride, I’ve known her family in one way or another for decades. Her mom and I showed horses together nearly 40 years ago, I used to run horse shows with her grandma, their family has supported Huckleberry’s since the beginning, and one of her sisters now works with us.

💐 Between Shelly doing the flowers, us doing the food, and looking around the room at so many familiar Huckleberry’s faces, it just felt wonderfully familiar.

🤍 These are my favourite weddings to cater — beautiful food, beautiful surroundings, familiar faces and that small-community feeling that somehow connects us all.

💙 It’s a pretty special night here at Huckleberry’s.

Grayson is working his very first official bussing shift.

💜 Truth be told, he didn’t come looking for a job… one of his best buddies has been begging me for over a year to let her come bus tables, and tonight everything finally lined up. So here they are, side by side, learning what it means to be part of a team.

💙 About a month ago, Grayson wanted to go to Jones Boys and pick out new cowboy boots, new jeans, and Western shirts… to look like his Papa.

That one got me.

💜 Tonight, watching him walk through this restaurant in those boots, working hard with a smile on his face, I couldn’t help but think how incredibly proud my dad would be.

💙 Will Grayson grow up loving the restaurant business the way I did? I honestly don’t know, and I’ll never force that path on him. I just want him to learn how to work hard, treat people well, and take pride in whatever he chooses to do.

But for tonight… I’m just one very proud mom.
