Our December holiday event bookings are officially OPEN 🎄! We are able to host groups of any size up to 70 people!!

We offer accommodation for cocktail service, buffet style, coursed meals, or anything in between! Flexibility is not an issue.

Outside of regular operating hours, we will only be closed on Christmas, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Years Day!

The Flying Otter Grill is seeking a part time regular bookkeeper/data entry assistant to join its amazing team!

WORK HOURS: Part-Time Regular (based on operational needs)

LOCATION: 950 Wharf Street, Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Competitive wage, flight perks (including buddy passes), discounts at local restaurants and partner organizations, staff events and much more!

Responsibilities and Expectations
• Bookkeeping including data entry, processing, and recording payments, accounts payable, GST, and other.
• Responsible for ordering supplies and/or equipment.
• Receive, sort, and respond to inquiries.
• Liaison with Human Resources team for upkeep of documents, and filing.
• Manage electronic files
• Assisting with onboarding of new staff with new hire paperwork

Qualifications/Assets
• Proficient with Google Docs and Sheets (Microsoft Word or Excel)
• Comfortable with technology and ability to learn
• Excellent organizational skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Administrative experience is highly recommended

• Food ordering
• Inventory
• Maintain a sanitary and clean work environment

• Accuracy and speed in performing duties
• Understand proper food handling and food safety standards
• Maintains friendly, fast, and accurate service ensures an unsurpassed guest experience and ensures all food items are consistent with company standards.
• Ensures the restaurant is up to company standards regarding cleanliness, neatness, and guest accessibility. Works as a team player to support other employees in completing their tasks.
• Completes all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Assets
• Food Safe certificate required
• Previous kitchen experience, an asset
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull up to 11.5 kilograms (25 pounds) without assistance
• Must be self-motivated and possess a high level of energy
• Must have strong organizational skills and display high attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment
• Must have a passion for food and a willingness to learn
• Ability to be an effective member of a team
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
