The past couple of weeks have been one of the busiest and most rewarding stretches we’ve had in this restaurant. Orders took longer than they should have. Some of you waited when you shouldn’t have had to, and you were kind about it anyway.

Here’s where that patience went:

Since the Bradley Creek fire started, we’ve served over 600 free meals, roughly $6,000 worth, to evacuees and fire crews. We’re not registered with ESS, so that came out of our own pocket, with some very generous help from individuals in this community who quietly stepped up. We’ve also been making lunch orders for Salvation Army and OKIB volunteers. All of this on top of our regular service.

We’d do it again tomorrow. But none of it happens without a small crew working long days, and without you being patient with us while we did it.

To our staff: thank you. You carried this.

To everyone who waited, tipped, dropped off a donation, or just said something kind at the counter: thank you. That’s the whole reason we can do any of it. We love this community.

And while the fires are under control now, if there are any crews or evacuees still out there, the offer stands. 🙏

Free Coffee and Food for anyone displaced by the Bradley Creek wildfire. 💜

We know what today has felt like for a lot of our neighbors, watching the smoke build, packing a bag with whatever fits, and leaving on a moments notice. Our hearts are with everyone under an evacuation order or alert tonight, and with the OKIB crews, BC Wildfire Service and first responders still out there working.

We can’t offer shelter or assurances, but we can offer a warm meal, something to drink, and a quiet place to sit and breathe for a bit. Come in, bring your family, you’re welcome here.

That goes for the crews too. If you’re on the fire, in the air, or on the ground, your food and coffee are on us.

As always, we trust this community completely. No proof, no verification, no questions asked. You’ve been through enough and we’ll take you at your word. 🙏
