Seven years ago, I opened my first bakery on this vibrant Commercial Drive neighbourhood. Back then my kids were half my height. Now they are taller than me!
Running a small business for this long is such a huge privilege, especially in this climate. So I don’t take any of it for granted and I have to remind myself often that we are so lucky to have so much support. It does get hard though. The pressure to do well never goes away, and it feels like there is no room for error when there are dozens of orders coming in everyday. Expectations get higher and I never feel like anything’s good enough.
We make things from scratch and do what I consider to be honest work to put a smile on people’s faces. This responsibility turns out to be worth more than I knew when I started.
Sever years! Thank you to everyone who’s worked with us, taught us, called us out, celebrated with us, snacked with us, created memories with us. We show up for each other in this beautiful community! This community keeps our lights on! And I am forever grateful!
