Pine Point Report August 12, 2026. The access restriction has been lifted but the power is still off and the landfill is still closed. We will be opening our gate to seasonal site holders and campground clientele SATURDAY morning. Please understand you need to take your garbage home with you until the landfill opens.
Hydro should have the power on later today if all goes well. “Don’t Push”, seriously don’t.

Starting today.

A hopeful update from Baril Bay...

Today we received advance notice from the Ministry that changes are coming to the access restrictions surrounding Fort Frances 14.

We still don’t have the exact date yet, but for the first time in weeks, we know that returning to the area is officially on the horizon. The Ministry is preparing residents and property owners for re-entry and has begun sharing safety information for when access resumes.

Fort Frances 14 is still an active wildfire, and crews are continuing suppression work, so there will still be hazards and precautions in place. We’ll continue to follow all Ministry guidance and wait for the official word before heading back.

But today, we finally have something more than hope. We have a sign that we are getting very, very close.

Thank you, as always, to the Ministry, firefighters, pilots, emergency personnel, and everyone who has worked so hard throughout this fire. And thank you to all of you who have continued to check in, send messages, and cheer us on.

We’ll share the next update as soon as we receive the official notice. ❤️

Pine Point Report – August 5, 2026

We are still unable to access Pine Point Resort due to the current Implementation Order.

There are still active fires in the area, and the fire crews continue to work tirelessly. We appreciate everything they are doing to bring this situation to an end.

Unfortunately, this is completely out of our hands. I know everyone is anxious for updates, but I simply don’t have any new information. I also don’t own a working crystal ball, so I honestly have no idea when the restrictions will be lifted.

Please know that we will reopen as soon as we are permitted to do so. The moment we have confirmed access, we’ll let everyone know.

Until then, as the old owner, Al, always used to say:

“Don’t Push.”

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the lake.

Not much to update on the situation at LDML.

I spoke with COs the other day. The fire is still burning in hot spots and while it "looks good" the reality of the situation is that they're still actively fighting this fire. While it has not gotten bigger, it also has not shrunk, it is still burning over 51,000 hectares. We see fire crews being brought out there nearly daily.

Permits are being granted but they grant them sparingly right now for purposes of keeping lives safe, so they don't have to worry about finding anyone if something gets away from them.

LDML water access is closed - do not attempt to launch or fish. There are conservation officers out there on the water patrolling, they are fining people for being on the lake while it's closed for water suppression purposes.

We understand your frustration, your heartbreak, your concern. We understand. Please have patience, because right now there are homes inside this implementation order that keep people who live in the area from being able to return home, for the simple fact that their homes are inside an active wildfire zone. Please have patience. Remember that some won't be able to return home when all is said and done. For those that can when it is, they just need the fire crews to be able to get it out so the roads can be open again.

If there's anything the last few weeks have taught us, it's to not take a single moment for granted because things can change just that quickly!

We will be closed tomorrow for a dear friend's 90th birthday party🤍

We will be back at it Monday morning, 7am eastern time!

We've been getting calls about a piece of information going around distributed by the MNR, and our understanding is that it isn't the clearest. It seems they've given out a piece of information saying that the evacuation order for these fires has been lifted.

It has, this only allows residents of the area to come back to our homes.

This is different from the implementation orders that currently have the LDML road closed - this order is still in effect. The lac road is at present still closed according to the implementation order. Travel permits through the ministry are required to cross the barricades, and yes, the barricades are manned.

At present moment in time, we have no further information beyond this to give you guys.

If you're traveling through, we ARE open, and so is our motel if you need somewhere to stay for the night.
