Watched a movie last night that made me miss my best friend more than I knew how to say.

She’s my sister from another set of parents. Lives in Australia now. We used to dream about living together and honestly, we still do, just from opposite sides of the world.

If I could be a reptile, I’d transform into Bubbles and curl up next to Nugget. Two little leopard geckos. One little life. 🌿

We’d catch crickets together. Help each other peel off the shed. Gossip about all the guests who come to see us. 😆

To anyone reading this who misses their person tonight - I see you. Some bonds don’t shrink with distance. They just learn to live in a different shape. 💚

A behind-the-scenes look at ethical breeding. 🦎💚

We spent the day at Apollo Reptiles, one of the breeder programs we proudly collaborate with and it reaffirmed everything we believe about why this work matters.

A few moments that got us:

🐍 We met the parents of our baby Blood Python, it was a full-circle moment we didn’t know we needed.

🌿 Their Blue Tree Monitor, wildly curious and very intrigued by phones. 😆

🐢 A group of rescued Red-Footed Tortoises (SO MANY WALTERS!!!😍😍😍) 💚 Apollo built them indoor and outdoor enclosures with the space and humidity they deserve. And here’s the part we love: they don’t breed these tortoises because of their lifespan and size. Instead, they’re being left to family in their wills. That’s long-term thinking.

If you’re considering a reptile, please do two things first: research the species, and source from an ethical breeder.

This is the reason we don’t take some of our reptiles out for guests interactions 🤣

Fun fact: club-tailed iguanas come from the fastest lizard family on earth 🦎💨 Their cousins in the Ctenosaura genus holds the world record for fastest lizard sprint at 21.5 mph (34.6 km/h). That’s faster than the average human can run. Tiny but mighty.

Then pick up a Connect Four and challenge whoever you came with. Pull out our riddle cards and find out how well you actually know your friends, your date, or your family.

No rush. No agenda. Just the kind of slow, present afternoon that’s hard to come by lately. 🌿
