Rolled ice cream-how it’s made!

Rolled ice cream starts out as a liquid base. At Skip the Cone, we use a quality gelato base. We then add your choice of flavour and pour the base onto a frozen pan where it is chopped, mixed, spread and rolled.

Chopping is the most important step in the process as it adds oxygen to the ice cream. Adding oxygen creates the perfect fluffy ice cream consistency. Chopping also distinguishes rolled ice cream from ice cream you’d find at other establishments. Typical ice cream machines oxygenate the base mechanically. At Skip the Cone, we do this by hand.

After chopping, we smooth out the mixture and roll it. Then we add your favourite toppings!

Rolled ice cream is a unique twist on a classic summer treat and we are proud to be Thunder Bay’s first rolled ice cream experience!

Bring your plants and props and come and mingle with other plant people! Swap and sell is happening up on the mezzanine in the SGBC taproom.

Thursday, June 8: Popup at Skafs Just Basics, 3-7PM
We'll be popping up at Skaf's on Hodder. Visit us for craft beer samples and beer-to-go!

Thursday, June 8: Taylormade Scramble at Fort William Golf and Country Club Ltd, 4-9PM
The SGBC team will be serving beers out on the course! Find us for a cold beer and some sweet SGBC swag!

Friday, June 9: Popup at George's Market and Celebrations, 3-7PM
We'll be popping up at George's Market. Visit us for craft beer samples and beer-to-go!

Friday, June 9: Rock Logger Concert Series, 6:30-9:00PM
Live music on the patio, featuring Just Me. Skip The Cone Ice Cream truck will be in the parking lot. $5 pints and $20 pitchers of Rock Logger all night long.
